I drew AZ late rifle bull elk for Unit 1!

The draw notice says that I had permit #000015. Does this mean 15 out of the 425 permits drawn for Unit 1, or 15 out of the overall state elk draw? If it was 15 overall, I'm surprised I didn't get my 1st choice (Unit 1 was my 2nd choice... but I'm not complaining).

I'm a NR and had 10 pts. I don't know whether this was a good use of these points, but I got tired of waiting for an early rifle permit, and my shoulder's too torn up now to try for an archery tag.

Any advice on Unit 1 would be greatly appreciated.

No draw for me, but my long time AZ buddy who took me on my first elk hunt in 1990, drew the most sought after archery bull tag in AZ, so I will be on the camera while we chase after that ole 400 bull. Will be fun and can't wait for September to get here as I am almost as fired up as my buddy who drew.

I do have a MB tag for New Mexico, so will be hunting come late September.

Good luck to the rest of you, hope you draw your tag(s) and have a great hunting season. My gear is already packed and ready to roll.

I also drew 5B South archery bull - was not expecting to get drawn to be honest with you. Had the Kaibab bowhunt all planned out but I'll gladly trade that for my first AZ elk tag - any starting points for 5B south would be much appreciated.
