Drawn for Wrong Elk Tag

I drew an AZ antlerless elk tag as a first choice with 9 points. I had applied for rifle bull unit 10 first choice and rifle bull 9 as second. What can I do at this point, I don't have the confirm email? This kills me to loose all my points on a hunt I won't go on.

GOOD LUCK, I know someone that that happened to last year and they had to go on the cow hunt they drew, he also had 9 points. Good Luck Andy

Absolutely! Although, make a wish doesn't support hunts anymore. Look up Hunt of a Life Time! That's the outfit that makes hunts possible for terminally ill children and the like!

Kudos for entertaining the offer! I wish more people would!

why wouldnt you go on this hunt?.dont you like good meat or are you just looking for a set of horns.if you want to donate ,shoot it and donate the meat to the homeless.

My brother is getting married the same week in HI. I applied for Nov hunts to avoid any conflict with work and personal schedules.

I have a friend that had that happen to him a couple years ago. He notified Game & Fish Dept. and they refunded his money and reinstated his points. Not to worry. No Elk tag for me. Put in for 7W with 4 points. Congrads to everyone that did draw.

Clark ,Unless I'm missing something here, can't you just notify the AZ F&G, and explain to them that you were issued a tag you did not put in for!. They should have records of your application. Go down fighting!!! Raise @#*! They know the value of points, and what they mean to hunters! Surely they must know that no one in their right mind would burn 9 point's for a cow tag. A mistake has been made and it needs to be corrected. That's not something you just walk away from. That's serious stuff!!! (LTH)

I called AZGF and explained the problem. The application was entered online, their logic is, only the data entered via your PC is mapped over to the draw.

If unsuccessful in getting this changed, I'd like nothing more than this tag go to someone who can enjoy a great outdoor and big game experience. I'll likely be in contact with your AZStickman.

I made a similar mistake this year and burned 6 points in Oregon on a doe tag that I ment to be a buck tag, wrote the wrong hunt code! Probably not as painful as yours but still 6 years of $$ for a license every year hurts. I called them and they basically said your mistake tough luck. HOpe you have better luck with Arizona Dept. and your other idea of donating is a great idea and should take the edge off the pain a little. nwhunter

You're a good man, Clark! I'm sorry for the tag SNAFU, but I'm proud of you for offering up the tag for a good cause! Can you imagine the smile on the young man or lady that otherwise wouldn't have had this opportunity?

I lift my glass to you sir!

Don't forget to check out the Hunt of a lifetime website! Really great, heartwarming stuff!

Again, Thank you!

I agree chasendeer. I completed three online apps with the same hunts codes for family members, all were correct except mine. It may have been my mistake, not sure how I entered 3058 and 3026 vs. 3025 and 3026.

I have agree with everyone, great move to donate the tag!. There is a name for people like you. They are called: "CLASS ACT" (LTH)

I second what many have already about you Clark and the way you have handled this situation. Its posts like this that really help us all remember what it means to be a true sportsman. As much I hope for your sake that AZ helps you out on this one, Im glad you are so willing to bite the bullet and donate your tag to such a wonderful organization.

You are to be commended.
Talk about turning a lemon into lemonade.

Hope it works out for you and you get to keep your points.
Lesson for all of us indeed. (several lessons actually)

Clark, I'm a bean counter, so I've done this before. 5-8 is just one key up from a 2-5. That probably won't sooth anything, but congrats on doing something great with the tag.
