Montano Elk Decoy

I will be elk hunting on the second archery hunt here in NM. In years past , my dad and I have always been together on our hunts. Some with nice success and others where we just got out and enjoyed nature. Anyhow he underwent back surgery and we were not sure whether he would be able to get out , which it looks like he probly won't.Some friends invited me into their camp this Sept, which I've accepted. These guys also work archery hunts in pairs and I do not want to disrupt their MOJO and told them I'd hunt alone. As those of you who have bow hunted elk know , solo archery for elk is extremely tough.
Thus comes my question. I have a MT elk decoy and plan to use it , but have any of you used it on solo hunts and what are your thoughts on them? Those of you who know me know I'll draw back on a cow or spike elk. I love elk meat, and am shooting my Bow Tech as much as possible with anticipation, but am now trying to put together a solo stratogy.Any thoughts are appreciated....NM

I have solo hunted with the decoy before. It will sure hold their attention.

If I know I have an elk coming in. Set up the decoy and move 20 to 30 yards toward the elk.

Get hid and when they come in close enough to see the decoy there is no hangups.

Good luck.

30INCHBUCK SAID IT ALL.
one other thing though.
first you need to locate the bull, and get him coming.
I use mine as a beacon standing on the edge of an opening/park,
step back into the woods a few yards and call.
then wait.
if there is a bull in the area he'll
come running.
if you can get a head of a heard, and know the direction their going even better.
he'll be on her like boat people on rice cakes.
good luck.
