I was just wondering If anybody has hunted th st joe area or up the North fork of the courdalene river. I would like to see some pics of the area. Oh and is it like the jungle up there.

Yip, it's a jungle up there! Not just a jungle but a STEEP jungle. I have a moose tag up there for this year and have a couple pic's from one of my scouting trips that shows a little bit of the area that you may find helpful.

This one is a pic I took from the top side of a little clearing on a hillside. I think this was an area that had been logged a few years back. It looks down into the Little North Fork of the Coeur D'Alene river and should give you an idea of how thick the brush is up there.

Here is another pic that I took of a cow moose that may give you more of a feel on what the brush can be like. As you can see, this is a cow moose, not a small animal, and the brush is taller than she is by a long shot. This pic was taken along the river so it doesn't give much detail on the hills in the area, but this is what it looks like all along the river for miles. This is NOT the main North fork but the "little" north fork. The river that seperates unit 3 from unit 4.

And another about 200 yards down the river from the last pic. I just got lucky and caught this bull out in the wide open otherwise I never would have seen him as he is dwarfed by the brush.

The first pic is the only one that gives you an idea on what the hills are like. Along the riverbottoms it is really tall brush, etc. but no trees. Once you leave the river though and go uphill, you are in thick trees no matter where you are unless you find an old logged area or an area that burned out or something. The terrain is steep and thick, no two ways around it. I'll be heading back up before too long on another scouting trip and I'll have more photos to share with you when I get back from that next month if you are interested. Are you looking at hunting elk in unit 4? Send me a PM with your email and I'll keep in touch if I can help in any way.
