I drew a tag for 36-2. Pretty much everywhere in 36 but SW of Stanley. I was thinking the Seafoam area. Any ideas? I know this should be pretty easy, but I am also thinking about deer areas also. Hunt will start Oct. 1, the day after archery season is over. Thanks for any help. :)

If you have 36-2 then you will hunt in the opposite than what you said. Did you mean 36-1? That is in the area you explained.

I have tried to put my 12 yr old and now 14 yr old in on that cow hunt 36-2 because thats where we rifle hunt is up there. See lots of cow elk almost every year in there. Would be a easy hunt.

Thanks for your reply. I clicked on the interactive map in the hunt planner and it outlines everything East and North of Redfish Lake. I hope I bought the correct maps.
36-1 is described as
"That portion of Unit 36 west of State Highway 75 and south of and including Redfish Lake Creek drainage."

36-2 is
"That portion of Unit 36 not included in Hunt Area 36-1. (That portion of Unit 36 downstream from but excluding Redfish Lake Creek drainage, and that portion east of State Highway 75.)"

Anyways I am excited to go elk hunting for the first time in over 2 years! I can't wait to fill the freezer. :)

Try 4th of July creek. Drive up to the parking lot for hikers then go up trail to your first right. There is an old road up to the mine which will provide easy access for your little guy. Plus the pack out will be easy. In October I think that road to the mine is closed. I did 4 wheel up there 2 years ago. Got a nice 5x5 during archery season. Always check for fires. one burning 8 miles north of Stanley now.

Have a great trip with your son. If you get one remember that it is just a bonus for spending time with him.
