greetings all!
don't ask me why, but after nineteen years of applying only for an early season tag in 16 i decided that this time with 14 bonus points i would enter a second choice for the late season, figuring i wouldn't get either one, and guess what? i drew a late season tag.
to make long story short i've booked with an outfitter for the first week of the season (nov 11th thru nov 26th), but in the event i don't fill out in the first week i've arranged for the whole month off anyway. i plan to set up a base camp in the area to hunt from and hike in for 2-3 days at a time on top of table if it's not snowed in.
my question is this. has anyone seen or read any books or articles or videos dealing with late season elk tactics?? i've already figured to lower my standards to the 320-340 class of bull if i can find one, still hoping to find something in the 350 range. considering this is probably the only chance i'll have at a bull tag in nevada before i die i want to give it my best shot and pull out all the stops. i'm 50 now and in 20 more years i'll be to old to get there, even if i did draw a tag. of course i won't go so far as to take a bull that's less than 320 so maybe the worst case scenario i can start applying again in 5 years instead of ten.
any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
