LAST EDITED ON Aug-01-06 AT 10:01PM (MST)[p]This is a picture of my first 6x6 bull taken last year. Waiting for the mount to return but was wondering about what he would score. I know it's not a monster but a first one so just curious. Thanks

He looks pretty good! Now if his 6th tines continued out I would say about 315. From the pics it looks like he has just barely split his sixth tine. So I will guess about 290-300

Gene,

Where did you get this Bull? I didn't even know you went Elk hunting last year. Nice bull and congrats to you on the success. Where to this year or did you draw anything?

Brian

My guess averaging both sides and adding mass and spread

G1-14
G2-12
G3-11
G4-15
G5-4
Beam-43
x 2=198
Mass & Spread-70

Approx Score-268

But don't let a score tell you if its a trophy or not. Not many hunters can say they have shot a 6x6 bull elk.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-01-06 AT 11:22PM (MST)[p]Your right Jeff he is a Colorado bull. Brian My uncle and I did pretty well last year both took Muleys and I took this bull. Thought I sent you pics? Maybe not. Had a great time up out of Kremmling. No tags this year but will hunt locally here on the east coast this season but head out west next year for sure.. How about you??

LAST EDITED ON Aug-02-06 AT 02:17PM (MST)[p]I came up with 262" but he might be closer to 280".
Put a tape on him and let us know what he scores.

ridge....i don't score bulls, and i don't care to. would be like asking me the size of my sister's bra...you have a nice bull there, and you should be very proud of him, as i am sure you are. send us a picture of him when you get the mount back....thanks for sharin' the pics, and congratulations on a fine animal.

Thanks guys for the compliments and the estimates on the score. Littlefoot I know what ya mean.. Heck If I have seen as many sets as you have I would feel the same way. Hehe. May still be a while on the mount as he hasn't started on it as of yet but as soon as I get it I will post some up. Good luck to everybody on the up coming seasons.

Not sure I saw the field photos of your elk before, just the one in the truck. Congrats on a nice elk! I'm sure the mount will make a nice addition to the trophy room.

AZDUKE,

If you didnt have to have the tag on the antlers for legal purposes, I would of left those antlers out in the woods....

Lets see the picture of that big buck you have a shoulder mount of???

Nice bull and great shot. I think he'd score around 275-285 , either way , good enough.

Just curious , but why do you say "I HOPE A EUROPEAN MOUNT"?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-03-06 AT 04:26PM (MST)[p]Did someone cross the line earlier??? I saw a somewhat aggressive post that is now gone...just wondering if the MM police got him...or he realized his aggression and removed it on his own (hopefully that's the case).

In any event that's a great elk. I thought the 220-230 remark was a bit low. I would "guess" in the 245-255 range. But it's just a guess. Still a great elk though. Congrats!

No I'm still think he was a dumb $hit, But the Nuke bomb does care, so they can Nuke this one too.

Gator,

Easy Fella...I was just asking if I thought what happened DID happen. RidgeRunner is just happy about his first 6x6...that's all. I'm happy for him too. Hell I was happy with my first elk, which was a 5x5, for 17 years until I finally got my first 6x6. I'm still happy about it...it was my first elk.

Have a good day.

I think he got a great bull, whither it his first or his tenth bull. It was a great hunt for Him. To have someone talk crap about it just rubs me the wrong way.

Gator,

I agree whole heartedly. I couldn't remember who the poster was, and I don't need anyone to tell me, but from your previous post I thought it was you. I thought you were dissin' Ridge Runner. My Bad! I'm glad to see we're on the same page.

We're, at least I am, here to enjoy...not stir it up.

I know I hit this site every day looking for info that might help me out on my upcoming elk hunt. It's agreat site.

A good 270 bull, doesn't really matter the score as long as you are happy with it as most would be. Good job and thanks for posting.

Thanks guys I am very happy with it. Sure tastes good too. Not really into the scoring thing anyways just was curious as stated in the begining. Any game I take is a trophy in my eyes and when the day comes that it isn't is the day I will quit hunting. Hope that day never comes.

250 Max. Would make a nice european mount for the garage. But the memory of any elk hunt is priceless.
