We have a late date elk hunt that runs thru Dec. here in my home state that is bow only either sex.

Everything is different as most elk hunters know or use to hunt elk in Sept.-early Oct.

Elk are vocal year round and bulls do indeed bugle, I don't think it is the same rut type meaning bugles but they do communicate vocally.

Get high or a vantage point and glass, go hunt and find high use trails or high use corridor of travel.

Get some snow and it is a blast....

If you would like to get some good advice on hunting late season elk you might try going to the Arizona Elk Society Elk Hunting Clinic on Saturday Aug. 19th at 8am at the El Zaribah Shriners Auditorium, call 480-882-9477 for ticket info.

Thanks guys!! I am trying to go to a clinic sponsored by RMEF on Aug 17, but cant make it to the on on saturday cuz of work..

Az I have hunted there on the late rifle, dec 1-10, and for some reason you will hear a few bugles. I know that they are not chasing cows but they are responding to a call. Maybe lookin for a buddy, I DON'T KNOW, but a friend of mine had that tag and took a nice 280-290 bull by calling, figure that one out!
