Finally decided to post my bull from 2005. Not the bull I was hoping for but the hunt itself was (if that makes sense). Many larger bulls in the area but things just didn't work out as expected.

Still, I feel happy to of taken this bull. For me it was a trophy.

The first pic is my dad with the bull (I think he could smile next time lol)

THats a great looking BUll! Lots of guys havent ever killed a 6pt, be proud. You may want to consider shooting him on a steeper hill next time ;-) WHat unit?

Tony,

That was the hardest I have ever worked packing an elk. 3 miles of hell packing it out. There was a guy that helped me and He was only about 120 lbs and I believe he had over a 100lbs of it on his back. I don't know how much I packed (less than him) but that is one day I will not forget.

Woody,

Congrats to you on that Bull from last year, nothing wrong with that one at all. Just get a bigger one this year and make darn sure that your Dad has a big smile to go with pictures. LOL

Good looking bull for sure. No matter what size they are, it always raises my spirits to see em' hanging up on the wall at home. Good memories with your pops is the real trophy.

Thats a good bull woody, was it a tag you drew or was it on the muzzleloader elk hunt?

Great looking bull, congrats! I've never killed anything with 6 points on one side, I'd dropped the hammer on that bull fast...

No orange required on the muzz hunts....

Nice bull, thanks for sharing some pics. I'm starting to feel the elk fever! Called in a similar sized bull a couple of nights ago, and I'm hearing more calling every night.......

Thanks for all of the nice comments.

Muzz,

I had a LE muzz tag.

Elk101,

I appreciate your concern, I will read the proc. better next time.

A lot of credit should be given to PleaseDear. He was a great
help and gave me some good advice. I learned one thing from this hunt, never count on one or two areas!

I had scouted an area that had several nice bulls that were in the rut. However, a few days before the hunt everything changed. Weather in the 80's and the elk weren't near as active. Fortunatly we were able to get into another area and I took this bull on the 2nd to last day of the hunt.

It was a decision many of us are faced with. Do I take this bull or hold out until the last day? The last of the hunt, when we were packing it out, bulls were rutting everywhere. Just my luck lol.

Still it was a great time. Good luck to all of you this year. I am going to give the general season a try!
