dayton, wa fire

This one is gonna be ugly before all is said and done. We're probably going to lose the entire west side of the Blue Mountains. While fire in itself is a good thing for the ecosystem long term, a fire this large will have some pretty heavy impacts short term.

I feel for the guys that drew Blue Creek and Dayton bull tags this year, both of those units may very well be entirely torched before this one is through.

I'm a little worried about my Tucannon bull permit. The latest says 43,000 acres have burned. I have yet to find a map showing the fireline so if anyone finds one please post a link. I'm a lot worred as a good friend of mine lives right in the middle of it. He left me a message yesterday afternoon saying it was chaos and the fire is out of control. He was trying to save his home and out buildings and had yet to see one firefighter or pump truck.

Well, Ramslam, seems you are the guy in the know. If you hear anymore, please let us know.

I WAS UP ON TUESDAY. WE WERE ALLOWED TO DRIVE RIGHT THROUGH THE FIRE. IT DIDN'T LOOK TOO BAD THEN BUT HAS GOTTEN A LOT WORSE.
I UNDERSTAND THAT EVERYTHING BETWEEN DAYTON AND MALONEY IS BURNED. THE FIRE WAS COMING UP ONTO ECKLER MTN. AND CAHILL LAST I HEARD YESTERDAY BUT SOME OF THE ROADS ARE OPENING. I HEAR THE FIRE FIGHTERS MAIN GOAL IS TO KEEP IT OUT OF THE NAT. FOREST.
THERE A LOT OF F.FIGHTERS UP ON TUESDAY. FROM AS FAR AS KING CNTY.RAMSLAM, I THINK YOU SHOULD BE OKAY WITH YOUR TAG. IT MAY BE EVEN BETTER. AS FAR AS SOUTH TOUCHET I DON'T KNOW A WHOLE LOT OTHER THAN IT'S MOSTLY BLACK. WE NEEDED A FIRE UP THERE JUST NOT RIGHT BEFORE ARCHERY SEASON.

Here's what's burned so far, as of 1 hour ago.

I think your tag will be fine, and maybe great with all of the displaced elk having to go somewhere. A cold front hits tomorrow which will help them get this thing under control.

Good luck in less than 2 months!
