I wonder just how much we should take of the slaughter of Elk on our land???? Just heard again that the indians in our area has taken some more backstrap, tender loins and left the rest to rot in the middle of the road!! 8 cows 1 big bull and a spike bull that had nothing touched!!! I Want to know what we can do!!! It makes no sence to me!! A fellow hunter sat and watched with his own eyes a group of indians in the back of a pickup all had automatic rifles an Indian in the frount seat was all dressed up in top hat, with vest and fancy shirt ect on the driver was not dressed up. The indian in the front seat looked through the binoclers and made a hand movement to the group in the back. They only looked at him not at the area he was glassing! When he waved his hands they all started shooting in the brush below. They fired around 300 rounds that day. The person watching was in the woods by a stump. They did not see him and he was not going to let them either!! What can we do to stop this kind of #####. Oh to top it all off the Indians were also up berry picking, You know the enviormentalist ones that cry when they see garbage!! Yeah you should see what they left behind, truck load after truck loads of garbage!!! Everything from the tents they were staying in to the stoves all broken before they leave and geuss who get to pay to clean it up. US!!! Our government is so scared of the indians it is SICK
I know there are some that are not this way so I don't even want to hear it, But there were at least 100 camp sites and I bet only a few where picked up after! So what does that tell you?? I can't believe the Elk that are killed for nothing makes no sence, One Elk feeds a family for a year why do they need 7 thats how many they can take, And a lot of them jsut kill them because they can. Can anyone direct me to where we can go to put a STOP to this???? Do you think the Rocky Mt Elk foundation can help any???? Ok sorry but I just could not believe my own eyes and ears!!!!

I'm curious to know where this all took place, and when, I'm thinking steps could have have been taken, I'm sure even the persons who regulate what happens on Indian land would like to know....

I lived in the state of Washington from 1985 to 1988 on the West side is all I will say. I seen the same thing on several occasions. There is nothing that the state will do, Due to certain treaties that are in placed between government and the tribes. I've tried the elk fountain and local authorities numerous times when I was there to no avail. Good luck.

I'VE SEEN IT HAPPEN HERE TO!!!

NOT JUST INDIANS THOUGH!!!

THERES SOME WHITE TRASH AROUND AS WELL!!!

THE PROBLEM YOU HAVE AROUND HERE IS OUR FISH & GAME ARE TOO CHICKENSHIT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THINKING ANY LOWLIFE OF ANY RACE WASTING GAME OUGHT TO BE HANGED!!!

Just got back in from hunting, we heard a lot of stories, who knows what is all true but one thing I know we did not meet a person that didn't have something to say. It must of been a bullet freenzy up in the forest. The people in town say it happens all the time they call and about 2 or 3 days latter someone shows up. We did not see one Elk, this is not good we did not see one deer either, we hiked for miles and miles, we normally are on elk every day and had scouted several herds out, but not one of them were anywhere near. Heard the same story from others too, either there is a huge amount killed or I don't know. i just feel that everyone is intitled to hunt to feed there family just like me. I pay I hunt I pick up my trash and obey the laws. NO one should be treated any different.

That is just sicking to hear. That just makes me sick that people think they have the right to go out kill animals and litter like that. Especially Indians, I mean come on! I've heard all about that S##t in school about how Indians respect the earth and all the things on it and how they use every part of the animal. This should not be happening! Fish and Wildlife open your eyes for !@#$$% sakes!

Okay, really this makes me sick and mad as hell!! Them Indians........... arent always all Indians, and this story may happen more than seen or just an unfortunate witness of a one time act!! I seen many of the same situations around here, but its the other way around!! Because its always OUR faults, its always our rights being taken for granted, its always the INDIANS! For some reason this story has a lot of supporting THEYS that see too, or others that have happened to as well, but what about the numerous acts of poaching that happen each year?? The dodging of bullets that some INDIANS have to go through when they are trying to hunt?? Stories like these can go a long ways when one cant seem to find animals...........

Sure I can relate to this story, and it makes me sick that MY people can take advantage of their Treaty rights........... I just don't like to see a story be blown up to relate it to ALL Indians. I aplogize for these acts just because I am an Indian, but I am no where near these kinds of acts!! I would call the local Tribal Authoritiesa and report them!!

People with no morals, and fire water?? Just say it, you meaning Indians right?? Wagon burners?? Come on out with them, why hold back?? I would like to hear them all, being a Tribal memeber myself, I need a good laugh!

Sounds like somebody has a guilty consience....Indians arent the only ones that drink fire water ;-)

LOL, nah man, I just have a lot of 'fans' I run into hunting here, and I get the same reaction from them, because I have a feather in my rig, its mainly because of the tracks left by above mentioned stories. I am just trying to clear the smoke from the fire.

Another thing is I have a lot of guys I meet in the mountains, and the guys that wont scoot over or wont wave..... I just get tired of it, and its scary when I hunt alone what will happen. I have been shot 'towards' and all that. I just dont like the black eye that a few 'Indians' give the rest of us!

I hear ya, we Utards dont like the black eye that bobcatbess gives us, but hey, we find a way to deal with it

HEY Tony!!!

I DO USE THE 'UTARD' WORD ONCE IN A WHILE!!!

AND I DO BELIEVE ktc'S DODGE WILL HAUL A BIGGER BULL HOME THAN YOUR FORD WILL THIS YEAR!!!

BUT WHERE DID I THROW YOU A BLACK EYE???

THE ONLY bobcat WAITING FOR AN ANSWER!!!

I know some people from Utah, and actually have a lot of Idahoans as in-laws as well!! One of my good friends lives in Alpine! You are all not Utards!!

While this subject is active, I'd like to comment as well. I do think that the "Native Americans" (NA's) were treated poorly 100's of years ago, for some of the same reasons that Africans (slaves) were, just a general indifference and disregard to the rights of people who are "different". But, I think that the U.S. Gov. did the NA's another diservice when they established reservations to isolate them on and for them to hide out on and keep themselves seperate from the rest of society, thus they never get a chance to integrate and mesh with the rest of the world. The U.S. Gov. has created a race of people who have become dependant on entitlements and handouts, and thus have taken away the self sufficiency, desire, and drive of a once great and proud people.

When it comes to hunting rights, I think that a NA should be able to hunt where they want, when they want, per the laws of their reservation, as long as they are on their reservation. Now, as soon as they leave the reservation, they should then have to obey all of the same laws that the rest of us do. That's how it is with everything else, they just get favors for hunting and fishing, because of some treaty. If a NA wants to hunt off of the reservation outside of the normal seasons, then they should have to use the same tools that their ancestors did. A handmade bow , wooden arrows, and arrowheads! Now lets see how many elk, deer, etc. that they kill, and how many even go out and attempt it.

I also hate to hear about the waste and slaughter of our wildlife that occurs at the hands of anybody regardless of race, but in the case of the NA's, I think that you have to remove the "you owe me" attitude before it can be repaired.

Sorry so long, but I've spent some time thinking about this before. Scott/couesbitten
