Hunted in the Bob Marshall/Scapegoat several times. Killed a nice 6-point, had two or three more "up-closes". In three trips we did 4 bulls (biggest about 310) and 4 or 5 bucks (one monster 175-ish 5x6). 10 years ago (the area we were in) was knee-high regrowth (after the '88-89?) fires. Eight years ago it was chest high. 3 years ago it was just over your head which turned hunting difficult, or at least more difficult that prior years. Strategy changed from alot of glassing to alot of hiking and listening. Alot of the dead timber has since fallen over and going is really tough - Not only steep terrain, but add in CONTINUOUS balance beaming and climbing, even on the flat spots. The only advantage to the deadfall was that we never got our feet we crossing creeks- every 20 feet there's natural bridges. We hunted with WTR Outfitters out of Ovando, MT. HIGHLY reccomend them. Contemplating going back again. If you're in awesome shape and find the high honey holes you'll have a good time- just don't expect ANY easy-going, except maybe the main trails. If you decide to go with WTR, let me know- I'll steer you to a couple of great drainages.
