I have seen/heard a lot of Utah DWR bashing lately and must
admit, I have done my share of it. However, I think it is
only fair I give them a few compliments.

I happened to stop at their office in Ogden to ask some questions about a specific hunt unit. I immediately was helped,
the guy pulled out a map, gave me ideas etc...

I also called a Conservation Officer about Hunter Ed for my son.
He actually called me right back, and on a weekend.

I understand that this doesn't sound like a big deal. But, my image of them "working with hunters" has definately changed a bit.

Have any of you had "positive" experiences with them? It would be nice to hear some positive comments before the hunting season ends.

Woodruffhunter,,I agree with you,,I live in ogden and they have always took the time to answer my questions and point me in the right direction,,they been very helpfull.Just have to stop in and ask.

I will tell you that in working with Mr Karapowitz for Chris Roberts' situation he was nothing but helpful and he called every memeber of the wildlife board personally to get Chris' hunt dates extended. Hats off to the Director and wildlife board on this.

I will tell you also...I don't post much but I do keep up on the forums. I purchased my bow tag a little late this year....long story but I was very busy. This was about 5 days before the hunt....I called down to the Salt lake office to see if I would be able to go to one of the offices and pick up my tag. The person that was on the line told me to hold a minute. He personally went and made sure that my tag was printed and in the mail the next day. I don't always agree with everything that they do but that is about as good as it gets for helping us hunters out....especially when it was my fault that I purchased the tag late and he easily could have told me tough luck.

I think all in all they try to do a good job, and there are many that do their job well...and others that dont. Unfortunately, we tend to hear the stories about the bad ones, not the good ones that have been mentioned in this post.
