My Dad and I drew for the first archery hunt and after seven days of hard hunting we both tagged. I got my bull friday evening...i cow called and he came stolling right at me and about twenty yards he turned and walked right in front of me, i stopped him with a mew and shot. He made a 10 yard u-turn and looked at me and dropped. He died within 25 yards of me and less then 15 seconds. I dropped the bow and started shaking and thanked the Good Lord. So i ran back to camp 1/2 mile away and hugged and hi fived my dad and son. So we moved spiked camp to the downed elk and just beat the wolves by two minutes (talk about Intimidating). We finished cutting/hanging at two in the morning. We woke up with the bulls bugling around are new camp. I looked over at dad and asked if he was going to chase those bulls and looked at me like i was joking, man we were tired. So we got up and started saddling my horse to pack out my elk when my son yelled out ELK!!! about 8 cow elk ran about 40 yards from camp so i turned to dad and told him to run over there cause theres a bull always following the cows...so he ran for his bow and i ran for my calls....while i was getting my calls i heard that famous arrow sound....my dad shot. so i cow called and ran to him... he shot his bull at 28 yards and the bull went down about 150 yards from my elk. So the work began and it took me two days to get both elk and camp out. But it was worth it and the whole family was waiting for us when we got back at camp...thanks for reading and here are some pics.
