I'm heading out for a week on Monday to SW Wyo. chasing Elk. Wondering if anyone has been out and herd much yet? A week ago it was still quiet, but with this weather and mid Sept. hoping they are getting chatty/rutty. :)

thats a negative, not a whole of bulls being tagged, just in the bighorn mountain range where there is no wolves, but we have overcast and getting snow over 3000 feet, hopefully they can change there habits and get noisy.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-15-06 AT 10:33PM (MST)[p]The elk in SW Montana started getting chatty tonight. Bugled in a 5x6 to about 80 yards. Wouldnt come in any closer but he sure gave us a show tearing up a 12 foot fir tree, stomping his feet, glucking, and just carrying on in general. Turns out he had cows that he wanted to get back to. Heard another bugle but the wind was wrong for a stalk. Should be awesome in the morning!

The game and fish removed a wolf three years ago near meadowlark lake and their were two other wolves with that one.
And I had a rancher sy tell cut grizzly track when gathering their cattle.
