I have not tried posting photos on here before. Hope this works.

My trip to NV 111-222 was great. Hunt lasted 9 days. Almost scored on a 370" 8x8 the 2nd morning, then a 380" 6x6 the 2nd afternoon. Could not locate either of these for a week after and settled for this 345" bull on Saturday the 9th. Lots and lots of rocks in Nevada to shred your tires and blow your stalks, but great experience. I was glad to be in top shape and scaled the mountains with ease. No knee or ankle problems even though the terrain was steep.

My shot came from 20 yards and the bull only went 40 yards. I sat there waiting for him to expire. Wedged himself in between the slope & this deadfall log. Made it brutal for quartering, but I managed. What helped was I was only hunting 1/4 mile behind camp that day. Was resting my legs and stumbled into this guy. I actually bugled him in from 60 yards after he did not respond to the cow call.

Zim,

Great Job and Nice Bull!!!

Way to persavere.

Thanks for the photos.

I didn't mean to disrespect this bull. He is good. It's just that a Nevada bull tag is about as good as it gets anywhere. It's one of the few places a guy has a realistic chance to score a 370-400" bull in his lifetime. It may be the only chance I had. Regardless it was a fine hunt. I now have 320", 336" & 345" bulls on the wall. Now it's time for a big muley. Hopefully my 4th season CO hunt will provide that.

Nothing wrong with that bull at all Ken!

Solo elk hunting 2000 miles away from your home state and getting a bull like that is something a guy should be proud of anytime.

Thanks for sharing,

Robb

Robb,

It is quite an adventure driving 1,700 miles to hunt an area I've never been to. It cost me my jeep. Blew a fuel pump on the way there (got screwed on that price too). Blew a tire ascending the mountain. Blew some rear bearings & an axle on the way home. Then to top it off sprung a leak in the transmission line, draining the system & frying my 2 year old transmission. And my Cherokee only had 194,000 miles.

On the other hand I was in incredible shape and stomping around the mountain was great excercise.

Nice Bull Zim! Looks like you had a great time and brought home the bacon!! Congrats on the Bull and the road trip!

>Awesome Zim! Can't wait to

I hunted the Moriah Wilderness and was alone except for one day with fellow MMer Nukedog. 400 square miles to hunt and we pick the exact same canyon in the same unit! Unreal odds of that.

I was surprised how many folks were in there scouting while on my drive out. Most with muzzleloader tags. They kept stopping me wanting to hear the story about my bull.

Hope you do some good research and find out where the bulls are late. I would not try to get into Moriah if there is any snow at all. Brutal road. Check out Mount Grafton area.

Zim congrats on a great bull! I lived in NV for 7 years and now dream of going back to the Ely area, maybe some day eh. Again congrats on your bull...NMHUNTNUTT

My gawd Zim sounds like you blew just about everything on the mountain.........:RIMROCK

You mean my jeep? Ya it's dead. Just mobile enough for me to go truck shopping.

Took a couple measurements. 44" inside spread, 53" main beams, the 3rds are weak at only 12". 9 1/2" bases. Are bases measured above the burr? Much better mass than my other bulls. Not sure what a good spread is for elk. Whitetail & mulie I know. Seems pretty wide.
