Idaho 39-1 cow tag

My son and I drew this tag and will be hunting beginning Oct 5th. Anyone else draw this tag? I can't wait! Send me a PM Maybe we could get together and swap stories. I would like to know what other MMer's will be up there that weekend.

I was up on the backside of House Mt today trying to fill my early deer tag and saw 15 elk, had what I would say a 350 class bull with them screamin his butt off at another bull down in one of those steep as heck canyons. It was pretty cool listening to them challenge each other.

Hey Romad,
Where is House Mountain? I've been all over unit 39, but I don't remember seeing House Mt. I'll probably be heading up Crooked River. anyone else heading up next Thurs?

We will be new to the high country in this unit as we usually hunt lower for the early Nov. rifle season. Unfortunately some of the private landowners have sold off their land we used to hunt on. So we are hoping to learn a bit about this area prior to the hunt Nov. 1-9. We were in the area over Labor Day and didn't see an elk, but had one bugling within 500 yards of camp.
Anyway, if you guys would be willing to share any information you gather during your earlier hunts in Unit 39, it would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone been in this area recently that can give a report on the elk activity? My brother lives in Nampa, but hasn't had time to get out much due to work...he's a firefighter...
