Grizzly's Valle Vidal Bull (05)..

Okay guys (and gals)...I "finally" figured out how to post a photo here (I hope). So here goes. Below (should be) a couple photos of the bull I shot last year in the VV. Not a monster by B&C standards...but definately a trophy for me. Take your best guess at the score and later I'll let you know what it supposedly scored. I hope this works.

GREAT looking bull! Thats a real beauty! Im thinking it has to be pretty close to the 355-360 mark. Either way, its an awesome trophy!

Thanks for all of the compliments everybody. It was my most enjoyable hunt ever...so far. Part of the fun was being with my hunting buddy, Shootwice, when he shot his 6x6 bull also. It was like I got to go on two successful elk hunts in the same week.

I apologize for not posting sooner. But now that my '06 elk hunt is almost here it gave me enough gumption to figure out how to post. I don't post as much as some of you...but I'm reading and obsorbing like a sponge.

For those of you not familiar with the Valle Vidal...it's definately worth the application fee. Me and Shootwice drew our very 1st time we applied. Beginner's luck I guess.

Any other guessers out there?

NOt a big bull? COme on I lived in CO, that is a monster by CO standards!! Its a great bull!!! Thanks for sharing. I would guess in the 350-360 arena.

Nothing wrong with that Bull anyone would be glad to have their tag on one. Congrats to you on that hunt and also this upcoming season.

NOTE: When you posted the first link address, all you have to do is go back to the MM upload site and repeat the same thing on the next picture etc. After you have all of your pictures links posted, THEN post them.

We will be waiting for more pictures from you later this year.

342 and change That a great bull Not alot of people will kill a bull of that size, Where is a picture of shootwices bull.
 
I'm not telling. This is my favorite pic from the trip. So much meat in the back our low beams aimed high and everyone flashed their brights at us thinking our high beams were on. Grizzly's is the one in the back.

Thank you everyone for the kind compliments. Unfortunately nobody was close...but Gator was the closest.

Believe it or not my bull only scored...three oh eight (308") and change. The camera lies a bunch on this one. But if it's any consolation it feels like a 350" bull to me and it's my favorite mount in my trophy room! :)

Knowing the score on mine gave me a pretty good idea on the score on Colofireguy's bull. They are pretty close.

Now if Shootwice and I can only better last years bulls starting in (20) days...but who's counting.

308"????? Are you kidding? the only way this bull would only go 308 is if you are a midget...no offense to the little people. Are you sure you used the inches side of the tape and not centimeters?
 
Ok, I'm a little confused on this one....I'm usually one to guess low instead over over-estimating; however even after you posted 308" I'm still in disbelief!! Looking at the pic's before I read your post I was still thinking 345"+! Wow, great pic's!!

Thanks for posting, that is a beauitful bull (one that now has me very confused on what a 308" bull looks like!!!)
 
The smallest I can make this bull is 330! My first reaction was 345, ten minutes later I thought it was 355.
 
When the outfitter and guide scored them they were in celebration mode. I wasn't paying attention and Grizzly was partying with them too. Maybe they missed a measurement or two. They were hitting the tequila pretty hard.
 
I'm 5'-2" and weigh around 112 pounds. ;-) Just kidding. 5'-10" and around 180.

To be clear my outfitter measured it while I watched. I was confirming the individual measurements. The scoring was as follows:

Left Right
G1 12-4/8 12-7/8
G2 14-4/8 14-4/8
G3 15-1/8 12-5/8
G4 13-5/8 14-1/8
G5 9 11-1/8
H1 6-7/8 7
H2 6-2/8 6-3/8
H3 6 6-1/8
H4 5-6/8 6
MB 42-4/8 42-4/8
Spread 42-4/8

Total = 307-3/8" (Okay I lied...it's not even 308"!)

Please let me know if we did something wrong.

It's still a trophy to me though now matter how small the score. :)

P.S.-Maybe I can do better next week. I leave in 9 days for NM 16A 1st rifle season.
 
There is no way in Hell that that bull is 308 gross!!!!!

I would put the tape on him again. For me score really doesn't matter but there is no way in Hell that that bull is 308. I would bet my house on it.

I would have guessed the mid 320s myself. That is a good looking bull for sure.

MH, you hit the nail on the head. We were 2 for 2. Wouldn't have mattered if mine was a raghorn for my first bull. It was all about the hunt. Hopefully, in a couple weeks, we have a better looking pair to post!

Again thanks for the kind words. He's a beautiful bull, very symmetrical, and way good enough for me. I was (am) very pleased with him.

Now if I can just better him starting next Saturday... :)

16A Arizona? Elk or deer? Just wondering cause i dont live far from this area and havent hunted it in a while. I was curious on how well it was doing.
 
If that bull is only 308, I sure hope you will come to Colorado with me in a couple of weeks. I plan on shooting a 4X4 barly legal dink, and if you'll take the photos, I could tell everybody it was a monster.
Great bull no matter what he scored. Sounds like the trip was a blast, congratulations.
P.S. I was going to guess 345, then I saw the width photo and bumped my guess to 350 !

Nice bulls ! great hunt thanks for posting I am dying to go elk hunting maybe next year.. I may have missed it but what state do you live in to make a 30 hour drive? do you get drawn in NM often?

We live in Michigan. We drew the Valle Vidal in 2005 and the Gila unit #16A in 2006. I wouldn't be surprised if our luck runs out for a while...but you never know.

I cant believe 308?!!
A bull with 6" bases?
Measurements were probably taken from the wrong place would be my guess.
