My nieghbor and good friend shot a real nice 5x6 bull yesterday afternoon here in NM unit 6C.He spotted the bull with one cow feeding and moved in and made a great 1 shot kill at 80 yards. The bull rolled down hill about 15 yards or so and came to a stop, thats when Orlando realized the bull was his. Its his 3rd bull in 4 years of hunting this unit, his first with a muzzleloader and his biggest bull yet. The meat cutter weighed in 409 lbs. of meat. Two weeks ago I wieghed in 235lbs from my cow and figured her to be around 400 lbs. This bull was a 6x6 at one time but was a bit broken up , but man was his body huge.I'll be geting pics this week and Vinihunt will post later on...

thats only the 2nd bull ive heard being taken in 6c. i saw a decent 6x6 in the bed of a truck at conoco sat. morning, and the hunters said they shot it w/ a rifle! (muzzleloader season) but they said they got it on the santa clara rez so supposedly it was legal. If they really did kill it on the rez, i have no idea why they were at conoco in Los packing it with ice, it appeared they were coming out of rendia canyon. is orlando related to mono?

Yeah I haven't heard of much success either. I have a friend that on the 2nd bow hunt shot a small 4x5 and another guy in camp also kiled a small 5x5.
No they aren't related , but they are joined at the hip lol.How do you know them , do you work with them? Thet are both great guys and will do anything for friends, glad to know them and their famalies . Orlando also killed a beautiful antelope buck with his bow back in August...

Naw but been chasing a big 7X7 Went last night with my son but only spotted a 5x5 far away. I have found several carcasses close to the rez and noboday hasn't reported a big bull taken out of the rez. Esapelly if they went through LA? Doesn't make sense. Will be up there again tonight to look for them elk. Jeff

We are from the reservation and are able to hunt till the end of the year. How sweet is that? But no we haven't had much luck...I think I have been too anxious...plus after all the shooting this past weekendd it spread them elk out. Almost had luck with the bow but couldn't close the distance. I am looking to hunt high this weekend and hopefully bag one with my son by my side...fingers crossed!! Anyway, thanks for the info...can't quit figure out who these individuals are that got the bull. I will be sending you another PM...please respond to it. Take it easy...I will post pics if we are lucky!!

huntnutt1, no i dont work with them, im an unemployed graduate student. Some good friends of mine work directly with mono (james and dave) i dont know if you know them or not. I'm still wanting to see pics of this 5x6 though! i heard they got it on the north side of the valle or something like that. i did see a pic of a gigantic oryx those 2 killed last year, but i never got to see that antelope buck

SWEATBULL, no I don't know your friends , atleast not by name , maybe if I saw them. Yeah Orlando shot a great oryx last year , he's a lucky son of a gun, he killed a nice little bull elk with his bow and also killed a lion with a hand gun and then this year on his first antelope hunt with a bow he shot a great buck. I green scored him at 79 and change, just a beautiful buck. As for the pics , I'll get the disc this weekend and hopefully Vini can come over ...
Congrats on yur education, you need to tell the guys to help a guy out LANL could use more educated people...
