Diamond Mountain Bulls

Alright, lets see those Diamond Mountain, Utah bulls killed this season. What was your weapon of choice? Were you hunting public or private land? Were there a lot of people hunting? Were the elk bugling real good? Just wondering what was killed, big or small.

I hunted Diamond for elk with my uncle and it was sad. We had seen 3 bulls the first weekend in one group. 1 spike, a 2 point, and 1 small rag horn 4 point that was herding a half dozen cows. The 4 point bugled 3 times, and I almost had to laugh.

The second weekend we located 11 bulls, largest was a small 5 point. My uncle shot a small 3 by 4 because it was easy to get and we left a little disappointed. If he had not drawn the tag in his first year it would have been really sad.

I paid him for his tag just because I talked him into putting in. We could have done better above Bobcats house.

I cannot wait to go to Colorado for the first season to hopefully see some better bulls.

Where did you hunt on diamond mountian. Which range. There are some good bulls up there, unfortunatley most of them are on private ground.

Well there you go Private ground, theres the damn problem with this piss hole state. I dont realy think the signs mean no trespassing I just think there highlighting the good hunting areas. Thats to bad you only got that kind of bull on a tag like that. That would pi ss me off but then again this is Utah hunting we are talking about.

I hunted diamond mountain unit as a non resident on public land. I got a bull on opening morning that I'm pretty happy with with the little bit of public land available. I can email the picture if someone wants to post it. Brian

Hell, when I look at Diamond Mountain on the maps, I see the plateau where the Jones Hole Rd goes and all the private property is. The ENTIRE south slope of this mountain (15 mile long x 5 miles wide = 50,000 acres) is BLM. Yeah, this in not where there are 4x4 or ATV trails, so it's not much of a "road hunt" unit - bummer if that's what you're figuring on.
