check out this bull me and a friend called in on monday! that thing looks like it could do some damage. his normal side was a real nice 7 point, i wonder what would make a horn do that?

That abnormal horn growth is caused by looking at elk-porn. At least that is what my cow-mama told me as I was growing up in the elk patch. oooOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!! ungh! ungh! ungh! (supposed to represent a bugle)

Sweet picture.

If this is in Utah on a spike unit, could you please pm me the area, I would love to hang that spike from my wall.

Me and about 20,000 (or what ever the number of spike hunters in utah is) hunters.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-05-06 AT 03:05PM (MST)[p]Not sure if you guys are serious or am I behind on Utah laws or not? This is still technically a 7 point bull, correct? If you had a spike tag, he would not be legal? Or is it different? He also has a brow tine which I'm sure is over 5 inches, so in colorado, 4 point restriction, say his left side was a spike also, he would be a legal bull because the brow tine is over 5 inches.

Sorry guys, he's still not legal in a Utah Spike bull area, that brow tine saves his life. This also could be a genetic thing, there are bulls just like this on the Deseret Ranch.
Neat pix though!!

You can clearly see a split at the base with a point going up, one going forward and out, and it looks like a possible 3rd point right over the bottom edge of the ear.

In a spike only area the only thing I'd shoot it with would be a camera. :)

slamdunk, Why is he not legal? Are you leading someone astray or are you just sure you can back up that statement?

In a spike unit that Elk is definately a shooter!!!! Read the proclamation.

LEGAL: no branches ABOVE THE EAR on at least one side!!!!!
Shoot him!!!!! I am surprised how many guys don't understand this simple concept. When the ear is standing, and there are no points coming off the spike above it, it is fair game.

Is it true Monks don't get married? LOL To bad that he's not in a spike unit. Don't tell everybody he's in the burn southeast of Butcher Spring, keep it hush hush. Did you guys kill any bucks over there. Seen a few in there this year. I gave you a pm the other day. Great pics buddy, keep them coming.

ELKOHOLIC-
My apologies to you and anyone else i may have confused. the "old law" was no browtines. I clearly hadn't updated my info.

A spike is a spike is a spike, but the bull in the picture is clearly a "red tape" bull that would definately cause some controversy....yet still very legal in a spike unit. Shoot him!!

Whenever i have hunted spikes, i usually looked for milk on the lips. LOL

I don't think I'd chance it here in Colorado, they would probably consider that lower point a brow tine, which is obviously over 5 inches, which makes it legal for a branch atlered bull, but not a spike....

You all need to read my post on the bull that I found that is close to this bull. My question is why not kill these types of bulls with a spike tag. So I ask this question.... Would you kill eithter of these bulls with a mature bull tag that you waited over 20 years to draw? I know that I wouldn't!!!

mountain hunter i have to admit i would shoot him even if i did wait that long i love those freaks i have killed a couple and one muley that was a spike and the other horn came down below hus chin i have no problem passing a 330 class bull but when one of these types steps out everthing goes out the window for me.

Nope I got a cow instead. Missed all the spikes! But their is always next year.

My dad has a bull VERY similar to this at his house. He said when he gutted it it's testicle on the oppostite side of the messed up horn was missing. He shot it in Montana.

COOL picture

I thought you were going to say his testicles were opposite of each other. lol
