Hi guys, looking for a little insight. I am going to Meeker Co for elk and muleys next week and I picked a couple of areas to hunt. I was wondering if the Jensen SWA is decent during the 2nd season or if the elk will be pretty much pushed out from the 1st season guys. I was also looking at the area along FS 250 between yellowjacket pass and sleepycat peek. I've been reading about a sea of orange there and am a little concerned about that. Will getting off the road a mile or two be worth it or am I barking up the wrong tree.
The other place I was checking out is the roadless area below buford, near burro mtn and middle mtn in unit 23. Looks like a decent area, but I was wondering how the hunting pressure is there as well.

If anyone has info on these areas, I would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

Just remember this where ever you go just get out in the front of that herd of hunters and hunt the saddles where the elk are going to cross as they get pushed away from those road area's.

The second season you will see alot of elk but look for them to be on private property along the white river. There will be tons of pressure no matter where you go horseman, hikers, you name it there will be more orange than you can even imagine.Tons of mule deer also but they will also be on private property down low.The first season is the permit to have or the muzzleloader in 12.Sorry just telling you the truth but good luck hope you do well.Dont overlook horse ridge area bulls can be pushed into this area during the rifle hunts if snow dont push them low and onto private ground.Make sure you are on public ground private does not need to be posted just trying to save you a heavy fine.
Good Luck

RE: co unit 12, 23

thanks for the tips. Even though I am a little discouraged after reading the posts. Ahh well, getting a two week vacation from work so it won't be all that bad. We'll give enm hell and hopefully it will work out.
