anybody score this weekend on a trophy spike bull or a nice muley?
i saw a pretty nice looking bull hanging over somebody's pickup truck bed side down in enumclaw yesterday driving through town, but that was it

Even if you didn't score lets hear a report about how the bulls were doing, my season opens in 2 weeks, I can hardly wait.

ridge-we were up on bethel ridge. it was pretty quiet up there. it got tore up during the rut and looked as if they had moved on. not sure where, i assume to higher ground. my buddies are still up there, i was not hunting, just trying to help them out, but i am a new elk hunter so not sure how much help i was. one of them saw a spike, no shot, and about 4-5 cows sat. a.m., another guy with us saw a few cows yesterday. we saw 5 muley does sat. am. that was it. we headed up higher to just under 6000' and there was lots of sign up there, we just couldn't find 'em. I think the guys were going to spend some more time up there.
good luck to you on your hunt.

Didn't go elk hunting but I had this little guy walk by me this morning at about 75 yards. I'd like to see him in two years. Good start on some extras. I have a late permit so I am gonna wait and get some rut hunting in this year.

I had a observatory b tag, spent five days hunting. I saw eight cows and ten bulls. the largest bull was a 300 class 6X6 and he was only 40 yards with butt to me so I never got a shot at him. I only saw one spike, he had about 36" spikes. I ended up shooting a small 5X5, and heard of two other bulls shot, a small 6X6 and a 370" class 7X8. Not real bad for first time ever in the unit.

Very Nice!!! Got'r Done! The odds were stacked up against you with the large fire limiting your scouting, but you still pulled it off. Rough score? Congradulations, you earned it!

nice mass, hard to not shoot a bull like that. good job, now lets hear the story.

Sorry for the delay in responding with a story but I have been off deer hunting.

I took the bull pictured on the afternoon of Oct. 8, my 6th and last day to hunt after passing on him on day 3. I had a great time chasing bulls and saw some bigger ones but this is the one that found my lead. I missed about a 360-ish bull on day 3; rushed a 126 yard shot only to have the bull walk within 63 yards standing broadside. Got my powder and bullet and rod out but no way to seat the bullet as one nosey cow had me pegged. I had another great bull coming to me at 200 yards only to have darkness fall as he came back into view at less than 100 yards.

The fire was a challenge as road and trail closures limited a good portion of the unit. The first access was allowed only 8 days before my season opened so unfortunately missed out on the enjoyment of much pre-scouting. I found a good pocket that held bulls everyday and continued to hunt it hoping to find one of the two hawgs I found earlier.

My cousin and I got in on this bull's two cows at under 80 yards. A couple bugles and he came charging up the hill screaming and pissed off as he raked trees and the ground. The jealousy led to his demise as he finally offered me a broad side shot through the trees at 78 yards.

It was as exciting of a kill as I have ever been on and I can't wait to chase something with my muzzleloader again as this was my first muzzleloader kill. I have not taped the bull other than mass measurements which total just over 59". My guess was somewhere around 330 but I have had others look at the rack and tell me he is bigger than that. Doesn't really matter.

Enjoy the pics.
