Utah draw process

Trying to plan for a limited entry hunt in Utah and need to know exactly how the draw process works. Here is what I know(I think): From studying the stats it looks like approximately 10% of the tags go to non-residents. According to the rules, 50% of the tags are going to the applicants with the most points. If I am looking at a unit that gives out 25 archery tags that would compute to 2-3 non-resident tags depending on how they round. How do they go about drawing for these 2-3 tags? Is there any chance for an application of two non-residents to draw a "max point" tag in this unit?
thanks

If you have max points then you stand a chance but if you dont have max point I doubt you will draw.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-18-06 AT 03:54AM (MST)[p]Hell, apply seperate and hunt two years in a row ..... maybe and that way ya don't have the hassle of what would they do...

Probably best to Email the Utah DWR and get your question answered as best ya can from them....

From what I hear if there is an "odd" tag it does not go nto max pnt draw, I have seen this in practice and you can check, find a unit that ISSUED 3 NR tags (I say issued because utah added/increased tags after rules were printed) then go to hunt odds.com and look at breakdown, should show max pnt holders only got 1 of 3 tags (remember there is a chance if 3 got tags one drew it not as a max pnt holder).

However I have never confirmed this. 2 apps together, NR is nearly impossible, since even if there are enough tags you cannot draw the last tag, since there are 2 of you. With long odds already it really hurts.

I used to apply with my dad when I first started, clueless, I know now I had 0 odds. Apply alone like Robb said.

I also think some NR tags are going to the SPFW, this will take away tags from NR in a way TOUGH to follow, will not help ods FYI

I too am studing the draw in Utah closely trying to get a tag. I put in for AR301 hunts, missed pnts but I have 5 now I think. Good luck
