I was curious if any of you or your friends have hunted the Wasatch unit during the ML limited-entry hunt, how did it go? was it a fun hunt? what type of bull did you end up taking? were the elk rutting real hard? did you run into alot of spike or deer hunters? just curious on the quality of the hunt. thanks.

I personally wouldn't want a muzzleloader tag on the Wasatch. I could likely draw it with my points, but I'd rather wait.

I think a guy could get lucky and kill a big bull. Especially if he could hunt private or had access to some of the more remote country with horses or mules.

I know the elk are rutting really hard during that time if they haven't been bothered by people.

A good hunt? Yes, but not with my points:)

On a side note, it looks like the DWR may get rid of the late hunt on the Wasatch. I guess they found out it was way too successful for killing big old bulls........:(

Seeing as the new potential state record bull came off the Wasatch, killed by a muzzleloader hunter, I'd say it might be an ok tag to have.

What this is the first I have heard about that, if it was already posted sorry if i missed it. Does someone have a pic that they can post I want to see that one. What did he score.

I'm seriously considering this hunt for next year, but like Prism, I don't know if its worth all my points, either. I have heard of a big bull taken on the ML about 412 or so by a guy from Springville? The hunt should be a good one, but it seems all the LE hunters concentrate on one area.

How about potential world record?!?!?!?

I think the guy was from P.G. and bought the tag for 7,000.
I also heard they were thinking about doing away with the late hunt but at the same time I see they are giving a late hunt tag at the big convention?? Will the lucky person have it all to himself??

I have hunted the wasatch for every season, nad been successful on all of them except for the muzzeloader. My cousin from PG, who bought a tag this year, not sure if it is the guy mentioned, hunted every day hard hoping for a bull 350 or better and he ended up going home empty handed. We hunted hard, but it is a hard hunt, lots of bugles, but the bulls with the cows are not the big ones. This year the leaves where on the quakies and oak brush which I think is pretty normal for that hunt, and it made it very hard to spot the bulls that where not with the cows.

I saw this bull on the hoof during the archery hunt. He is an absolute toad! I would put in for that hunt in a second next to the archery hunt. It is definately worth every point. The bull everyone is referring to is the pending Utah State record ML bull and may pass the world record by a fraction.

It's always an adventure!!!
