Let's say we took out several of his old school migs, the Russian can simply resupply Assad with newer migs. Assad air force is antiquated but his A-A missiles like the SA-6, SA-11, and Pantsir S1 are not.

The inability to use Syrian airspace could not come at a worse time and will make it twice as difficult in finally putting ISIS to rest. So good job dumb ass at least all the special needs kids will applaud you.

I also think that Trump is right to put blame back on our lack of resolve in 2013. Obama drew a "red line" and Assad walked over it and we took another step back and drew another one. I don't want more war but if the President states things so definitively then there needs to be something behind those words.

I don't think Xi gave the actions a second thought, apples and oranges. Syria is not a nuclear player and it does not border Russia. As well, we telegraphed our attack making it nothing more than a giant fireworks display that just happened to do some peripheral damage. Try that in N. Korea and see what the response would be, I think we know.

I wouldn't be shocked if the KGB had a hand in this just to disrupt the meeting with Xi in hopes that Trump would predictably strike. Such a strike would clear the skies over Syria for Assad/Russian forces to do whatever they want, embolden Putin supporters and draw a closer alliance between Syria, Iran, and Russia. I don't think Assad would cross Putin, he is too reliant.

If we don't target Assad, at least take out their soccer stadiums or put a final arrow in the power grid for Damascus. Unfortunately none of these are military targets and carry a high percentage of collateral damage.
