hey just wonderin how the bull elk hunters did in idaho this year, especially interested in unit 44 bull elk (oct15-Nov9)drew that hunt and was not impressed with the unit

where in 44 did you hunt? i've never been out there without seeing at least two good bulls in a day.

I have been in unit 44 only a few times...but I agree with patience I have seen good bulls each time I have gone out there....seen a 340-350" bull last year on my first trip and the season had been open about a week....buddy called in a smaller bull that same day and then he wouldnt leave us alone...even after he knew what we were.

Haven't hunted 44, but in 61 the wolves have the elk ate, or chased clean out of the country.

hey its bsneekee, we hunted near the ski resort only scouted two days total in the unit. located some bulls around sept 23 and returned on the opener and only saw one lone cow. we prolly hiked ten miles that day however. Unfortunately we didnt have four wheelers so we wound up walking 6 miles on a four wheeler track. saw two good bucks around 25 inches tho. Dad and brother still had deer tags to fill so my elk huntin got neglected for a few weeks. They finally tag their deer and my dad isnt too excited bout the hike in after the brutal drag with his deer. I finally round up a buddy and head out for the last day, put in alot of walking but didnt hunt to hard. that day we didnt see a big game animal. the deer must have already migrated out. I realize i didnt put my time in which is the key and thus have no reason to complain. However, that last day not seeing even a single deer really bothered me. Glad the rest of you have had different experiences. However, did have a good deer season!
