Which is more likely to be successful in the rut? Also will north or south latitudes have any influencce? Just trying to decide on whether to try those instead waiting many more years for a LE rifle tag.

Here in nevada the Elk ML tag is in nov. Archery is the only tag in the rut. Im not sure what other states have a ML tag in sept.

New Mexico has a ML hunt during the rut, usually late Sept. and early Oct. A buddy of mine took a 344 bull last year for the ML hunt. Send me a PM if you interested in obtaining a tag in Northern NM.

Utah has a ML LE hunt in the rut. It is late sept. and after the rifle hunt. There were several 400 gross bulls killed this year on it. That to me would be a great tag!

The only downfall to the muzz elk hunts in Utah are the archery hunters will be after them hard and heavy from Aug-25th--Sept-16th.The any weapon season starts Sept-17th-Sept-27th.The muzzleloader starts-Sept-28th-Oct-6th.You have to also remember alot of the Limited elk units will have the general muzzleloader deer season open at the same time the limited muzz elk is open this will include added hunter pressure on some of the units for elk. Also broken antlers can be a concern at this later date from bulls fighting.I think any of the weapon selections and seasons can be a good hunt under the right conditions.
