Does anyone have any info on this hunt? I just had this hunt fall in my lap and from some of the info I've heard so far, it could be an awesome hunt. Friends were there a few years back and a few of them took some MONSTER bulls. It runs from Jan. 6 to Jan. 14. Any info would be great.

Thanks!

I've seen some of the bulls that are harvested at that time. They are very nice, some broken up of course, but still some great bulls. You should have an awesome time. What a nice thing to have in your lap. Jim

Thanks for the input guys. I understand that its a migration hunt and it needs some weather up top to get them on the move down hill. Regardless, it should be a blast, with the chance at a monster bull.

YD, I think they run 3K and sell very fast as they only have 30 hunts for sale.

Good luck. I'll be up there helping a friend with a whitetail hunt right around the same time. What unit are you hunting?

Well you got your weather!!
I live 20 minutes from the rez and we got snow last night as well as off and on today. The higher elevations (above 5,000') got a good bit.

Cant wait. Its a week away. Good news about the weather!! Thanks cohntr!

The 30K hunts are for the Dry Lake Unit, I believe. They kill some MONSTER bulls (up to 500") up there. With good weather, a 350-375 bull is a very good possibility in the Malay area, with the chance at a 400 class.

Yep.

"Our trophy elk populations of Hilltop and Dry Lake herds are truly incredible. Our largest bull harvested was in 1997 which was a 9*10 that grossed 502 6/8 and netted 487 points. Most of the hunters purchasing these tags are looking to harvest a bull that will score over 400 points, and the opportunity to consistently do so is perhaps the best in the United States for free-ranging animals. The trophy hunts are held during the month of September and so the bulls are in full rut behavior. Archery or rifles may be used. The money generated through the sale of these tags goes into the Tribe?s Conservation Fund, which is used for wildlife surveys and habitat improvement projects."

is it true these bulls can't be entered into B.C due to them being harvested on a Reservation?

How much does a tribal member charge to guide you for a week hunt, or is that included in the tag fees.
