Received this pictures today only saying that it was taken in Colorado. Do not know anything else about it but have e-mailed the person who sent them to me to see if he knows who had taken the buck. My guess is someone from Northern Nevada.

The email that was forwarded to me a week or so ago with these photos indicated the deer was somewhat of a pet that lived within a housing development of 40 acre ranchettes. The message went on to say the guy that "hunted" the deer convinced one of the ranchette owners to let him shoot the deer.

The forwarded email was from a fellow that had photographed the deer several times over the last few years. Needless to say he was upset the way the deer was taken. He indicated the hunter was an oil field or energy worker that had recently came to the area to work.

Thats "Moses". I've got video of that buck from the last couple of years that is in Magnum Mulies III. He was also the buck I photographed that was in the two page intro spread in last years Eastman's mule deer issue. The email described was not from me.

it sucks how rumors start 'eh.....I didn't recognise 'em (Moses) I must say and I just watched Magnum III, 3 time's in two days.....

That's an Awesome buck for sure! I remember BS teasing us on the old Magnum Mulie site with a pic of that buck with half his rack hidden behind a tree. To see the video now, and see both sides is awesome. What a pig!

BS,
I just watched Magnum Mulies 3. You guys have outdone yourselves. It is very, very well done. Definately it is on the top of my list for the best video out there. Congrats on the job well done. It'll definately be one I'll watch again and again. Congrats to you and Dave on your bucks too. What Toads! Way to go! I'd love to see some still pics of them but I know you're a little bashful bout posting pics. LOL!

I'd piss myself if that brute came walking by. I would have to pinch myself everyday after I shot that thing! What a monster. Why do the deer get so big there compared to ours in Nebraska?

I'm pretty sure I saw that rack at Daryl's Taxidermy in Grand Junction last week. The one I saw came from Rifle.

Beany,

I was in Daryl's this week too and that's not the same buck, but he is a dandy though. The buck in these photos is actually at a taxidermist in Craig but came out of all the new drilling country above Baggs, WY. Probably would've never been whacked if they weren't building roads all over and tearing up the winter range.

dancasey2's right. Nebraska has dinks. I got a picture of this little guy at the Kearney Deer Expo a few years ago:

Both bucks are awesome! So was he taken by some places as stated above? Or was it out it the "boonies"?

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome, right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

clearcreek-

can you be more specific about "upset about the way the deer was taken"? Was there anything illegal going on? Surely something more than the fact that it was in a developed area. That kind of thing goes on all the time...and if you ask me the people who feed the deer are the unethical ones.

Regardless, this is one unbelievable buck!!

DougW:
It has been 7-10 days since I read that email about how the deer was taken. And, as you know, email is a terrible way to know the emotions of the person sending the email.

So, all I can say is I think the author of the email was upset because the deer hung out within the ranchettes and therefore was thought to be safe (due to the developed area). Just the way it was taken - a relitively tame deer shot by an "outsider" while it was within the development. There was NOTHING in the email that suggested the ranchette owners were feeding the deer or that it was taken illegally.

I thought That buck looked like "Moses"....a picture of it had been posted in KingsOutdoorWorld members section under Big Buck rumors for a bit.......Definitely a great buck, sure would like to know more into the harvesting of the buck.....Dwayne

Thanks for posting this picture, clubs for horns, I'm thinking in the last 3 years of rutting all fellow sparring combatants got a thrashing curtesy of those clubs.

Thanks for the reply clearcreek...I guess all I can say is if I got permission on a ranch (40 acres or 4000 acres) to hunt, and I saw a buck like this on that particular ranch, I wouldn't be consulting the neighbors or photographers for their opinions before I pulled the trigger.

holy moses!

Doug

It would be great to clear things up and get the nitty gritty details, especially since that is one heck of monster!

Buckspy, if that is the buck you have video of can you say whether or not the original info is true or not? Just wondering.
Thanks for posting the picture! JEff
