Greetings from Saskatchewan!

I thought I might post a photo of the mule deer buck I took on opening day of rifle season in Southwest Saskatchewan, November 3, 2003. He grossed 192 1/8 and net 187 4/8 typical for the Sask record books. He has remarkable G2 measurements of 19 inches plus, great forks! He made some good sausage, too.

Phantom,
Congrats on a Great Buck! Way to Go! That buck is a CANADIAN HAWG for sure! What a brute!

What a toad! Deep forks, long tines, and netting almost high enough for the B&C all time book!

That is a beautiful typical. Congratulations!!!

Thanks for sharing.

:) Shoot straight! Back to camp late!!! :)

Another reason to come to Canada, to find the sheds of the ones that got away!

Awsome buck !!! Impressive ... same with your husbands.

Man ... now you and your husband have 3 whole years of waiting before you are elegible to put in for the mule deer draw again.

What zone did you get drawn for??? I've got alot of relatives in Saskatchewan that own large ranches or farms ... both around Maple Creek and North Battleford.

I guess its hunting whiteys for the next couple years and scouting for muleys till the draw again !!

I WANT TO HUNT CANADA!!!....It's becoming my favorite wine... (whine)....I hear you cheeseheads love a good wine!!!!. lol.
No offense BCBOY,Phantom, and any other Canuck out there, eh!!!!!!!.

Thanks for the compliments on our sask mulies,

We were drawn in 11, but 13 is the zone to hunt, they have more buck tags and better terrain to start with.

We can try our luck every year, there is no waiting period to re-apply, just less chance of being drawn next year, better chance the next, and so on. Some people luck out and get drawn more often.

Theres always archery tags for bucks, but thats different hunting altogether. Knowing how to use a bow would help. Sure, it might be easy to hit a stationary target during practise, but the excitement could get the best of me and I could end up out of my tree, so to speak.

I got a call this evening to let me know this buck took second place typical in the ladies division for Saskatchewan. First place goes to Sheila Kay from Maple Creek with a 191 3/8 typical. I am looking forward to seeing her deer. It is interesting that the 2 bucks were taken in the SW corner of the province. If anyone has pics of the Maple Creek buck, I would love to see them.

Also looking forward to seeing all the provincial award winning trophys at the convention in Saskatoon in February. In 6 of 9 divisions, the hghest scoring trophys were non-members of the wildlife federation, so they are not eligible for the awards. It is too bad, there are some great animals out there.
