Anyone hunt this unit? would like to know what you thought about the quality of hunt versus the low number of branch bull tags. Ever see good bucks there?

I too would love to know more about this unit. I have 8 pref points, and have considered applying here for archery elk.

If you go to the bottom of the Elk forum and click on pg. 2 it is about half way down the page.

I have hunted spring bear there when I draw a tag and have seen alot of nice velvet bulls. Not many deer sighting around this time of the year. It has potential for producing a record bull. Bring your spotting scopes and bino's, lots of drainages to look over. Has some road closure area's but also has lots of roads that are open to access area's easier. I think it is a tough draw for bull tags but results could be worth it.

I would love to hunt mt emily there are some good bulls in there. If I had 8 points that is where I would be hunting but with a rifle just personal preference. As far as deer go it is pretty sad compared to what it used to be like. Hunt the northern part of the unit away from roads. Archery season you will see idiots driving down the road with 5 people in the back with bows and wearing white t-shirts. It is a joke they shoot everything in site. Do lots of scouting it will be very beneficial to you. There are spots where bulls will hole up and not move much even during the rut. These are the big bulls you will be after. I will keep my eye on these pockets when I am fall bear hunting. If you draw let me know and I will give you some areas to checkout. Goodluck

My son spent every weekend plus a full week over there during the bow season last year. His friend had the tag and he was there to video and hunt spikes. I can answer anyone's questions if you want to send me a PM. I have hunted there in years past before controlled seasons. Get a hold of me and I will help.

I have been building points for Mt. Emily and am also up to 8. I wonder how many other point savers will be coming out. There are few units just above this and may be beyond reach.

Nice bull! I'm trying to decide whether to try to get drawn this year, or just put in for a point again. Not sure what I'm gonna do just yet, but bulls like yours are why I'm interested in Mt. Emily.

I'm gonna guess 340" on that bad boy. Tough with only the one view. How close was I? Nice job.

Sorry guys you misunderstood me that was not my bull from last year it was a friends bull. There are some real smokers in the mt emily unit. If you want a 400 bull well don't bother with it, but if you put a lot of hard work into it you will have a real good chance of taking a 320+ bull. Another thing I have noticed alot of people do that have draw this tag they will shot the first 6x6 that they see on opening day. hold out for the big boys guys.

Zim I did not take a tape to this bull but a friend of mine did and he came up with 347 net I do not know what gross was.
