I need some help deciding what units to put in for. I should be very close to drawing a tag. What area/hunt would you recommend that I apply for? It seems that some of these so-called limited entry units are not that great anymore. Any advise would be appreciated.

It all depends on the weapon type. If it is a rifle or bow I would say Henry Mountains if it is a muzzleloader I would say the Paunsagunt. Both areas are not Premium like the division claims, but it's your best chance. You're going to have to spend alot of time ,hunt hard, and above all get lucky because it is no cake walk. And saving your points for a better day could be an option, but I don't see it getting any better unless there are some drastic measures taken. And I assume you're talking about Mule Deer.

So does that mean you have applied unsuccessfully for NINE years? Maybe that's not how it works in Utah, I don't know. But if it does, I'd say the points system is working very well there. ;-) NOT!

I'm also in the same situtation with same amount of points. Although I have a very good chance at a Nevada tag with 5 pts. I may just buy a point for Utah this year or apply for the Pauns muzzleloader hunt.

Just buy a general nothern region tag. There are tons of huge bucks up here and you can save your points.
