Meindl Boot durability

I have seen a lot of positive comments about Meindl boots. Most of those comments have been about how comfortable they are right out of the box and how well they performed on a hunt or during a single season. I would like to hear some experiences on the durability of these boots. Anybody been putting in a lot of miles or hunting with this over several seasons.
thanks
Mike

I have owned a couple of pairs and they are tough boots.

They are built too wide for my foot is the only reason I don't wear them now.

The Perfikt Hunter is the model that I've worn for the last 4 years. The boot is the most comfortable boot out of the box I've ever had!! The boot generally last about 8-9 months. I probably walk at least a thousand miles on the boots, give or take a hundred. For 240 dollars it worth the expense. You wont be disappointed.

I bought a pair of Meindl Sitkas last spring from Cabelas. Best fitting boots I have ever owned, but after hunting them hard through archery season the plastic heel cup split through the side of the boot. Cabelas took them back no problem, but they had discontinued this model and they did not have another un-insulated similar model so I bought something else. Now they have the Black Canyon which looks a lot like the Sitkas did.

I bought a pair of the black canyon boots from Cabela's also. And they do not comapre at all to the Danner's I own. Like has been said they seem to run wide for the the size. The leather is very very stiff and after wearing them for well over a dozen hikes, my feet actually ache after a hike. Just a poor fit on MY feet. Some brands just do not fit some guys feet very well, we are all different.

I wear out a pair about every three years. They log alot of miles. The only thing I have negative to say about them is that they can become noisey... Squeeking inside their soles. I have had two different pairs do this to me. This last pair both boots did it. If I walk on any hard surfaces that don't give, they squeek. Not good in a stalk.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-15-07 AT 08:22PM (MST)[p]I've been using the Mountain hunters, by far the best boot I've hunted and hiked in. I gave up on Danners, they wore poorly and always squeeked.

I spend almost all of my time in the high country, I put several hundered miles of steep cross country ground under my feet each year. I have used several different top quality boots including some top mountaineering boots and I will never buy anything but Meindel boots from here on out.

2 years is typical life I get but remember I am putting them through more than average paces.

I have a EEE foot, this might be one of the reasons I like them so well after reading the previous comments about them running wide.

Excellent boot. I get 1 1/2 to 2 years out of mine but my ex wives say I hunt a little to much. My foot is a little wide also. Maybe thats why I like'em too.

Good and durable, I've had the same pair for a number of years. The biggest reason they have lasted so long, besides durability, is that I swap them with my Danners when hiking or hunting. I definately will buy another pair.

I first bought a pair of Perfekt Hikers and wore them on an early season bow hunt. I liked them so much that I bought a pair of the Perfekt Hunters shoretly thereafter. Both have held up very well and I will be buying newer versions as soon as these wear out.

I also own a pair of Danner Elk Hunters, and they do not come close to comparing with the Meindl boots.

I have owned my Mendel's for about 3yrs now and I have put quite a few miles on them. They show NO sign of wear or breaking down, the leather is not stretching or getting sloppy. I really like these boots and will buy more when the time comes.

I have a pair of Hiker II's as I pack in several miles and do alot of sidehill and bushwack type stuff. These boots are the best. A little stiff for just purley hunting with just a fanny or day pack because they aren't as quiet as some of the softer soled boots but I love em. This will be my 2nd season. I only wear them for hunting so they should last me a long time. I'm hopeing 5 years.

I bought a pair of the perfekt hunters this fall and used them for hunting whitetails in MN and then for a muley hunt in mid November in Montana. I know what you mean about squeeking Boneaddict as one boot was doing the same thing. I was reading the manual and it suggested using Meindel wax on them but I called Cabelas and they suggested a product called Nikwax of which I applied it several times and no more squeeks thus far. Not sure if wax had anything to do with that or not. Of course, I've been wearing them now for winter hiking/shed hunting so the squeeking could come back once it warms. Anyway, I really love the boots...great support, comfortable, and definitely waterproof. One day while hunting in Montana, I switched boots to a pair of Wolverine Antelopes that I have and I was on my b@tt about 30 times that day as I was hunting steep hillsides with snow. The next day I went back to the Meindels and no more slipping as the traction is really good with those boots...
