Sportsmans Warehouse Giant Bucks

Has anyone seen the giant typ and nontyp mulie reproduction/creations that Sportsmans Warehouse has? I know the Spokane and Missoula stores have the same two bucks. One is a typ that must net 235-240+, the other is a nontyp that I just cant really guess the score? I dont think I'm wrong that they are creations and not repros of real deer. Maybe I'm disillusioned by there size?? The nontyp looks to be maybe a 350 buck, I dont know, maybe more. Bases like a good bull, maybe 40-45 outside spread with many, many points. Its fun to sit and look at them and imagine what it would be like to have one walk out.

If no one has seen them, I'll try and get a pic soon.

The last time I was at the spokane store I don't remember seeing any that big, maybe they've added some more since I've been there. They've got some monsters for sure, there is one non-typical there with some great cheaters that hook down that I'm pretty sure used to be in the Gart Sports store out in the valley, looks like the same deer to me anyways.

Like I said, I could be wrong, but I dont think I am. I've been to a lot of mule deer shows and sportsmans shows with the trophy rack displays and these bucks are by far bigger than any I"ve seen. In Spokane they are basically hanging right over the door as you walk in. A giant whitetail, and a pair of giant mulies. In Missoula they are on the back wall.

I think I'll ask them if they have scores, and if not, if I can take them down and get pics (Theres no way I could score that nontyp mulie!).

The Taxidermist that mounted all them is Frank Twardowski out of Couer D' Alene. Maybe I could call him and ask too. Keep ya posted.

the new store in phoenix has a huge nontypical muley that it says would score like 480 or some crazy thing. what cracks me up is that it has a "certificate of authenticity" hangin' by it. why does something phony need a certificate of authenticity? it's big and impressive and all that, but c'mon, it's phony. when i first saw it, it about knocked me down, but then about 10 seconds later, realized it was a fake and got my heart rate back to normal. those things are sorta neat to look at and stuff, but dang, they ain't real. they have a repro of the shipsey elk there too. i didn't mind looking at it because it should be fairly representative of what the real deal looks like. but the ones that are just some guys imagination put into resin just seem sorta wierd to me. to each his own, but i'd rather look at antlers that are real.

They've got a phony whitetail, at the Loveland Colorado store, as well. Would supposedly score in the 230's typical! "If it were real"...

I don't even bother looking at it myself. If it ain't real. I could care less....

Don't care too much if the mounts are "replica" or not, but we are finally getting a Sportsmans Warehouse in Reno due to open May 2004. We really have absolutely nothing in way of a real Sporting Goods store. Just on ooooold family joint that is about 50% above suggested retail on everything they carry (which isn't much).

LAST EDITED ON Jan-06-04 AT 02:51PM (MST)[p]Yeah, I dont sit and gawk at them too long, but its still fun to imagine a buck being that big. I mean, you look at the Chip Lake BUck and the Mundy buck and drool right? Well, they are damn near as big a fantasies as these bucks!

Yeah, ours has that whitetail too. Its unreal (literally!)

I'd be willing to bet that some of them have been added in the spokane store since I was last there. I know there were some super deer right over the door, but like I said I don't really remember any that seemed to big to be real to me. I do remeber seeing some of the deer around the store having a score card next to them. If the absolute monsters don't I'd almost bet they're fakes.

The sportsmans wharehouse in Salt Lake City has one of the huge non-typical bucks near the gun counter. When I first saw it I about dropped over, but after looking at it for a minute I realized that it couldn't be real. I saw the Broder or Chip Lake Buck in real life and this thing is bigger than it, so it can't be real. Despite not being real I respect the artistic ability of whoever carved the thing. Neat to look at, but I can't look too long or I will never be satisfied with any mule deer I ever shoot. Hope somebody posts some pics of these.

I'll get a pic in the next few days. I doubt it, but I'll try and get them to take it down so I can get a pic.

I was over at the Missoula store about 1.5 months ago. I seen the big nontypical on the back wall. I was talking to a guy in there that said it was killed down on the Ft. Peck res. so time in the 60's, and that it was a replica. Its crazy to think that there is bucks out there that big.
