We had a place in Meeker down the road from the Ute Lodge in the mid 80's to the mid 90's. There are a lot of elk in that area and most of the outfitters do a good job.
We hadn't hunted there for about 6 years (sold the place) until my brother drew an archery tag last year. We saw lots of elk and bears and he ended up taking a small 5 point bull. It was an awesome hunt. We saw bulls every day and ran into very few hunters. (Lots of raghorns - not a big bull area. Too many tags and presure during the rifle hunts.)
The rifle hunt is crowded. A big elk herd equals lots of out of state hunters. The country is great and I think you will have a good time. I don't know much about the Ute Lodge exept that is has been there a long time and is located in some nice country.
Have a great hunt and if you have down time the fishing is great in that area. Check out the link below on the Ute Lodge.
