I drew 16d elk archery , is this a good unit ? Are there any big bulls here!? Or any elk at all? I'd appreciate it if anyone would give me there favorite spots , not starting points, but honey holes .. thank you ???

I heard I may be lucky enough to kill a cow!!! I may just give it back, to much money for a crappy unit

Drive the roads and bugle and cow call all day long. If you get a response drive as fast as you can to get closer. Make sure the radio is loud and don't spill your beer! Once you get close just pop out of the truck and call some more: you're sure to get lots of 80-90 yard shots if you keep after it!

Hey man your strategy and mine are dang near the same bet you got monsters hanging too ??????

Never said I apply for b. I said posting draw percentages is dumb.

Yea, I killed a spike in velvet on the 6th day last year. I missed a solid 400 class bull. He was about 130-150 yards away. My pins don't go that far so I aimed high and let it fly. I guess I missed... I never found my arrow! i found the spike feeding near the highway at first light. He couldn't jump the fence so I let him have it! Didn't even spill my beer!

Thinking the same thing. People get on here and ask questions about units they've never stepped in, but apply for. I understand helping people, but a lot of these are very frustrating posts. I just decided to put in for a hunt that I will have no capability to scout, or hunt for more than a day or two, HELP ME.

*We are all in the same boat, just
wishing to be hunting right now!*

Mossback50cal is spot on. All the people on forums now just want it handed to them. "Hey I drew 16 or 15 or 34 ex... never step foot in the unit before but can I I get help" LMAO my question is 1st if you have no clue about that unit why put in for that unit and 2nd what happen to put some time and effort in yourself. 3rd if you don't have time to put effort in yourself don't put in for that unit or lower you expectations and it is what it is. Stop trying to act like your a big bad hunter after you get all the tips on where to hunt from the dummy's on here that hands out spots like candy on Halloween. Also there option 4 hire a outfitter if you don't know where to go or have the time.! Funny to me how the guys on here give up draw info and hunting spot then cry when they don't draw or go hunt some where and say hunting sucks not what it used to be, hunters all over and no big bulls. Lol

I agree with most of this with the exception of point #1. The only way to learn a new unit is to hunt one. We've all put in for units before stepping foot in them based on someone or something making u want to. The problem is that people wild rather ask for a starting point rather than take even a weekend trip to get a feel for a unit before asking. I don't mind guys showing that they've been there and made an effort and then asking for pointers if they are having difficulty with an area. My issue is the wanting help in a public thread before even e-scouting on google earth!

Smith33 I am agreeing with you 110% here , mossback LT , as well. I thought it was just on this site but if any have fb you'll know the same as me it worse there .. it's the same old poSts OVER ANS OVER AND OVER! ?????

Just to play devils advocate some...

I apply in 6 states every year, trying to draw a good tag plus a couple supplement tags every year. So, every year I put in for tags I have never step foot in. Now, I have spent countless hours researching the units before I apply in them, but still likely never step foot in the unit before I apply.

When I draw a tag out of state, or heck even in state, I usually make a post and ask for a little help. I give a lot of info to folks over the years as well. I have met some good people on this site that I now consider friends as we have helped each other out.

If you don't want to help someone, then don't, that's ok... To me, hunters are the best people in the world, and helping someone out here and there doesn't hurt anybody.... especially in the 16D's of the world. To me, its what makes this site so great.

Just my .02. Happy hunting.

???? Exactly!!!! An Lt good point but comes back to put effort in! Don't just put in for a unit because all the magazines say it's the best then when the draw come out and you have green on the screen. The first thing they do is post NEED HELP! Where do I hunt, don't need honey holes just one tied to a tree.

Cm if there your good friends call them or email don't post for the world to see! An as I said put effort in yourself don't look for hand outs, If your half a good hunter and put effort in you will be in animals. The only reason your asking for help as soon as you draw is because your wanting a 380 bull or 190 buck. Fine to put in for a unit you don't know but put the time in yourself and work your A** off or lower your expectations.

They became good friends, didn't start out that way. I always PM folks with info.... Who says I don't work my A** my off? Didn't want to get into a pissing match, but there are VERY few folks who take hunting more serious than I or who put in more time and effort into my hunts. Don't know how that has anything to do with making a post on a forum to help gather info?

Ok Cm I would like help/spots in 15 for elk, 29-30 for Barbary 2A deer and wife has 16d bow so need some there as well. I will get back to you once Wyoming, Nevada, Utah and Montana come out. Just honey holes to start will work. Nothing wrong with asking right!!!!!

You can pm if you want or just post for everyone, I don't care not my spot because I work hard and put more in to my hunts than anyone I know. Just wanting your spots and where you hunt just incase there better than mine! ?

>What about the people who drew

Right!! Lotta accidents lately haha

Hahaha ?
Wikipedia
Accident ....
"I read all the mags and it says 350 to 380 bulls so I put in for that hunt. Now I need to know where that 380 is? Hmm I will go to the forums and FB and HELP please don't have time or care to put in time just dont waste my time and tell me where to hunt."

really glad this site was not like this 6 years ago when I started looking at hunting new mexico. Guys would help others and think nothing of it. I have a whole bunch of friends in new mexico I hunt with now because I ask some question on this site. I have helped some of them find new spots and have spent many extra days scouting and shared that info as well. We are all hunters and helping someone with a hunt should not be that hard really. General help does not give away a spot but can help someone maybe figure out how to make there hunt better.

Here we go again huh? NM's cream of the crop beating their chest at how good they are.

Get over yourselves one time guys, if you don't want to help then don't.

Hunt Hard. Shoot Straight. Kill Clean. Apologize to No One.

Real simple, if you want to help someone then do it, if not just STFU.
This is so old.

Nobody wants to hear the same old crap about how good a hunter you are, and how you cry about people asking for help, and why someone is not good enough to draw the tag you wanted.

Grow the eff up. The best hunters I know dont cry constantly about helping or not helping fellow hunters they just get it done.

Go on some other forum with your tired acts.

Nm Paul if your such a great hunter why you ask on a shitty hunting forum for help all I'm saying. Also Last time I checked the great hunters don't ask for help they bust there ass and do it there f**ki** self. Your right thanks for making my point! Also if they do help there not posting it like a girl on the street corner again all I'm saying. ? ✌?

Loser, I guess you have some type of self esteem problem.

Bottom line is nobody cares about your juvenile opinion. Someone draws a tag they can do anything they want with it. Losers like you do not set up the rules about what is acceptable or not acceptable to do with their tag.

Like I said before. Take your crying and need for attention to some other social media outlet. Maybe you will impress someone somewhere else. You have shown yourself to be an arrogant loser here.

???Actually more people agreeing with me then disagreeing. People have had enough stop being lazy put some effort in! Funny normally the juvenile people jump to calling people names when they're ignorant An know the other person is right!

Glad you feel reassured that someone agrees with you. I will keep it simple. Your insecurities are not welcome on this forum. Find another place to try to impress people. I have yet to see anyone ask you for a hunting spot or help.

Hey Smith,

I personally know Mr. Bulldog. He's an awesome dude and an extremely hard hunter. You know not of what you speak and seem like a pretty selfish dude. If you don't want to help then don't. Pretty simple really

I'm actually really appreciative for those that do help out. A couple people in this post have helped me out in past years and I had an awesome hunt. I've been able to help a few people out over the years and it has mostly been a good experience.

Now what gets me going is how come I didn't draw a tag!!

Sure I'll help you out. Next time you get your ass handed to you in 23, let me know. I've dropped a couple in there....

Haha yeah I did then after 2weeks and 4 plane flights later My friend hired a outfitter! option 4 as I post earlier. And mr. investigator you can then see I recommended the outfitter later on after my friend used him ! Nice pi work thought. Funny you all are get pissed because I'm telling people to put effort in actually work hard an try themselves first before posting HELP NEED HELP two days hell two hours after they draw. By the way killed a 87" goat on that hunt I will post a picture if he oks it! Hunt hard kill clean??

Post one smith

My name is Tom I live in the northeast, Connecticut. My wife says I hunt too much all I do is think about hunting. She says I need help.

I haven't even told her I drew an October 7th muzzle loader tag in NM unit 6C. Not only do I need help with the tag but I need help in how I'm gonna tell my wife.

Who can help me?

You're seriously begging for attention aren't you buglenmin?

I'll help you out. Start a thread asking for help with a little bit of being humble thrown in and I'll give you help. If you're asking just to be a douche, then pound sand.

Other than that stop pm'ing me. I don't care to play your games.

I wasn't the one that started the conversation with you ? Was I? So if you don't want to be responded to than shut your beak . I'd rather be shot in the foot than ask a jack wagon like you for help.

If was the one that engaged in conversation with you I'd expect a response . You open the hole in your face and expect to not be responded to?? I don't need your help dude , or your opinions . Read through this post and see who's doing the bulk of the talking not me . I need no attention,me and a couple of dudes were just having a laugh . So if you don't like being responded to than shut your beak and don't initiate conversation.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-26-17 AT 02:15PM (MST)[p]Not interested in reading the whole thread, but I'll just add that asking for people's favorite spots and honey holes will usually get the responses you deserve. Good luck.

So I guess that means all the whiners on here are bad hunters by your own definition. Makes sense, you are not here to help, so maybe just hoping to pick up a few "secrets" without even asking.
Me? drew Valle Vidal and have gotten a guide based on MM recommendations. And I will still scout because its only 6 hours away from my corner of NM and its OIL for my son and I. But I won't get to learn what the area is like during September when everything is different from now.
So I could be stupid and cocky and callout people asking for help or I could ask for myself. I chose the latter.

So why are the whiners here?

Geno,

You probably know unit 16D better than 95% of the people on MM. You know there are big bulls and a lot of elk since 16D is the top trophy unit in the state.

I understand the frustration on MM about asking for info on hunting areas but think too many on here get too emotional.

By the way give me a shout and I can give you some ideas where we like to hunt in this unit.

I got ya Tom, thanks for the input my friend. I will definitely call you . Hear y'all did good this year congrats buddy.

Hahaha, isn't this not the same guy who just recently started a thread titled "Sorry MM"? Now this? What a clown! You, BUGLENMIN, and the few other clowns like you, that are what is making this site less and less popular.

Buglenmin is a good dude! I am a non resident and he has helped with information on a few units I was looking at. Although I wasn't asking for honey holes just basic info so I could make my unit choices.
Also if I would've drawn any of my choices I would have first ordered some maps and looked at google earth. Then maybe post about some general spots or water spots I was looking to gain information on.
All in all MM has been pretty good to all of us in helping bring hunters together and sharing stories, pictures and information! Thank you Founder!!

Thank you buddy I appreciate that did you draw this year

This is the kind of crap that has kept me from posting on mm for so long.

I have helped a bunch of people that asked for it thru this site over the years and I have received help from others also. That's the way a community of hunters should act.

I have met and made some great friends this way.

Next time Paul, consider deleting the negative posts.

Word of advice to people looking for help.... 1st use the search function, then you will get a good idea on who to PM and ask for help. That way it keeps this annual BS out of the limelight.

Sean, only Founder can delete posts. Personally I kinda like it that way. I do not like forums moderated with a heavy hand. I think most people see through the posts that attack other people for what they are. It is unfortunate, and it seems like I have to deal with it every year, and it gets very old. The time I waste on it is annoying.
