It seems like every month or so someone starts in with complaining about people asking for help.

I cant believe it is necessary to explain this, but, here goes.

If someone asks for help and you would like to help them, post your ideas or pm them as you prefer.

If you do not want to help them, it is real simple. You dont help them.

When a guy comes on here complaining about people asking for help, it is real obvious what they are doing. They are trying to say they are better than those asking for help and looking to impress others.

As long as I am the moderator of this forum, I will be opposed to this.
As I have mentioned before, I cant delete your comments, I cant ban you, but, I feel as moderator, I have a responsibility to step in when people try to bully or intimidate other members.

Until the day comes that Brian no longer wants me moderating the NM forum, this is the protocol of the forum.

Let's be clean you can read my comments on the gila post. But this is what is said
Mossback50cal is spot on. All the people on forums now just want it handed to them. "Hey I drew 16 or 15 or 34 ex... never step foot in the unit before but can I I get help" LMAO my question is 1st if you have no clue about that unit why put in for that unit and 2nd what happen to put some time and effort in yourself. 3rd if you don't have time to put effort in yourself don't put in for that unit or lower you expectations and it is what it is. Stop trying to act like your a big bad hunter after you get all the tips on where to hunt from the dummy's on here that hands out spots like candy on Halloween. Also there option 4 hire a outfitter if you don't know where to go or have the time.! Funny to me how the guys on here give up draw info and hunting spot then cry when they don't draw or go hunt some where and say hunting sucks not what it used to be, hunters all over and no big bulls. Lol
I then agreed with Lt about nothing wrong with putting in for new units just put effort in yourself before posting day after the draw.
Never said I was a big bad hunter never "look for attention" I actually gave helpful tips and recommended people to use outfitters that don't have time witch I do believe you have a preferred list if people need. Also asked for help from Cm. Last was not the one that got a attitude and stated calling people names right away. Read gila for yourself and see!

Yep, some times guys don't realize that many hunters apply for quality hunts in many states where it's impossible to put the years in it takes to get boot knowledge.. I apply for The Strip, Kiabab, Dutton, punnsgaunt, Jarbidge and on and on units I simply can't spend quality time in. I'm happy to help an out of stater to an area I know is good, no I won't point them to the canyons I'll be hunting and most don't expect that. To help an out of stater in my home state doesn't do a thing to hamper my hunt opportunities as 12% are coming no matter what. Just my thoughts

I couldn't agree more NMPaul. I think a lot of the negativity stems from jealousy of not drawing the tag that someone is trying to get information on. Hopefully nobody just gives away their personal honey hole, but I've never seen a problem with helping a fellow hunter by recommending a trail head or a specific mountain range. A lot of the time that is what these folks are looking for.

What part of it is none of your damn business what people apply for do you not understand.

Of all the serious hunters I know. The ones that year in and year out kill big animals consistently, not one of them goes onto social media and cries about people asking for help.

Only the wannabee hunters that are looking for attention consistently cry baby about people asking for help when they draw a tag.

Smith33, if you are not capable of growing up and acting like an adult on this forum, go somewhere else where your cry baby act might impress someone. I guarantee you, it does not impress real hunters.

You coming on here and trying to demean new hunters and people that may not have the time to scout is not going to happen.

I have said it before. Anyone can draw any tag. There is no group of guys that "deserve" certain tags. If they hunt 1 weekend or one hour it is none of your business. They applied for a tag because they want to go hunting.

Lastly, if you want to attack someone that is posting help "giving it out like Halloween candy" to someone else then you are just a pathetic POS. What kind of scum bag tries to bully and attack other people for helping.

Boy, you need to up your own game if some how internet info being shared is affecting your ability to be successful hunting.

Smith33, it is not just you. I have warned a few guys about this.

I am sure there are forums where a bunch of guys can play grab ass and talk about how much better they are than those asking for help. This just is not that forum.

Smith33, you are welcome to stay, but, just know the posts you made attacking people helping other or asking for help will not be tolerated.

This forum is for sharing pics and stories about hunts. Stories, NM related items, helping or not helping those that ask for it. It is fun to see pics of kids hunts or fishing trips, and other members. There are guys that have been on this forum a long time. There are guys that are meat hunters and some that just like the camping and fun part of it. Some are very obsessed and some are relaxed.

Smith33, you can fit into any of these groups if you like. All of us would much prefer your posts would be about your hunting trips. If you do not want to help those that ask, nobody expects you to. I dont share all of our spots or my son would kill me. But, if I do decide to help someone I try to put them somewhere that they can have success.
You are welcome to stay and enjoy the forum for what it is.

Thank you Ivar88 and Servehim.

Paul you do a great job being the mod. on here. There is a few who just don't ever play well with others. You can tell there just jealous blowholes though. I know yu always offer help and many others yet so there is still plenty to learn form this site.

Paul, thanks and well said! It seems like it has been the same person lately and am sure I will get called out on it! So be it! The MMrs on this site are awesome folks and a great forum to exchange hunting conversations,

The NM forum used to be the main stop on MM, but years ago a few guys really started to be jerks and at that time Brian didn't have moderators who were able to put the brakes on those guys...Little by little in time , people just stopped posting....Heck I stayed off for a long time I couldnt reuse my log in" NMHUNTNUTT" ....Well Ive been back and its just not the same but I still enjoy much of this forum , still some good outdoors man who contribute...Theres' always those butt holes but thats just part of life....I don't mind helping people when I can , I figure so many have helped me or my family some where along the way....As for putting in for new units for guys/gals who have never stepped foot in it, I say go for it, there always that first time.....I drew a barbary sheep hunt in an area Ive never been in and well I am gonna do what I can to find sheep...Anyhow ,Thanks Paul for being active on this forum, not just to keep people in line but for all the years you have shared your's Zachs and your brides hunts with us....

Ya people please give as much info as possible in order to make someone else succeed. As a Taxidermist I need all the work. Ha ha . So I wish everyone a great year and kill some wall hangers.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-17 AT 09:07AM (MST)[p]I couldn't agree more, NMpaul. 99.9% of the units I apply for outside of Nevada I know nothing about. And whenever I have the opportunity to help a fellow MM member out on a hunt in Nevada, I do it. I've made some great friends that way.

I've posted about this topic several times, so I won't belabor the point, but I'd ask everyone to please keep in mind that hunters everywhere need to stand united. You never know when your advice or help on here will turn a man or women into a lifetime hunter and conservationist. We need all that we can get.

With that said, if any of you New Mexico folks, or anyone else for that matter, need help in Nevada please do NOT hesitate to ask.

I side with Smithy on this one. I have put in for units with great draw odds (bow) for the past 8 years and have drawn 7 of those, this year excluded. The reason the odds are great is because they are tough units to hunt and have taken years of blood sweat and money to figure out. It really irritates me when someone draws a tag in one of those units and has never set foot in said unit, non residents excluded. I will help someone out that is a nonresident, and therefore has a real issue of getting to NM to scout it out. However if you live in the state get off your lazy butt and figure it out, then ask for pointers if your having problems locating animals.
God helps those who help themselves.

As a outfitter I have helped people res/non-res in some of the best elk/deer units in this state and have given information to some of my honey holes, some have had success and some have not, at the end of the day effort has to be used, they still need to learn how to hunt that particular area because as we all know elk and deer don't take well being tied up to a tree. ;) I still go into these areas and have success regardless of whom I've told about them.

NMBIGHORN

Res or Non res don't always have the money or the time and maybe for them and probably a dream come true that there is a chance for them to HUNT.

Thanks ??Sorry if I offended anyone. If you peel the onion back all I was saying is put some effort in before you post two hours after you draw. By a map open google earth ex... never said I was Fred bear I never said I deserved a tag over anyone else but people want to put words in my mouth that I did not say . Thanks Nm Paul for your blessing to stay on the forum even know I have a different opinion than you .! Hunt hard and happy hunting to all!!!!!

Thanks for setting the tone Paul. I love helping people and I want more people in our world to enjoy and embrace hunting and enjoy our public lands (or private if you are richer than me!). Case in point, there's a guy from CA whose young son drew a unit I like. I didn't draw (nor did my son) I gave him a lot of pointers and places to check out because I want his kid to have the best chance at a memorable time in NM.

I enjoy helping other hunters and hope MM serves that. The lazy/greedy ones coming in for honeyholes are probably too lazy to take advantage of the areas I'd suggest anyway, since they often require a few miles of hiking.

Paul,

Thank you!! I am a long time hunter done it my whole life. Was born and raised in CO and have killed my fair share of nice animals. Been in New Mexico 26 years now. Moving to New Mexico, and learning new country is not easy, with the help of many people on here, not giving out there honey holes but advice on hunting units, pressure, where to camp, trail cameras etc.. My son and Daughter have found the love of the sport. If you don't want to help don't! The choice is yours and yours only. But please don't be childish I have meet many wonderful people on here and I will offer any help to anyone I can especially the young youth Hunters!

THANKS AGAIN Paul!!

Jack

If it's a dream come true to hunt unit 18 elk with a bow they have terrible dreams.

Thanks for the comments NMPaul, all this bickering is tiresome, and really detracts from an otherwise useful and fun place to visit.

I do get slightly irritated when someone asks for help on their first ever MM post, but like you said, just ignore them it you don't want to help. I've tried to help most folks when I can, and have received some advice also, it would be a shame if that all came to an end.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-17 AT 01:01PM (MST)[p]Paul, well said and thank you for putting it out there...I won't lie, i have asked for (and received) help on this forum and I have provided information...there are units where i have spent a lot of time to find elk, one unit in particular i can be into elk within 30-45 minutes of parking while others have not seen anything...i have provided certain starting points for people that have asked for advice in this area (it happens a lot from people digging through the archives)...do i provide info to everyone? not necessarily but that is my choice...i usually begin im's with small chat and work from there as to whether or not i will give information...unfortunately, i haven't drawn this unit in 6 years but it is what it is...what it boils down to is if you don't like it, don't do it but it's nobody's business to tell others what to do or how to do it...like i tell my anti gun/hunting friends "if you don't like it don't do it but don't tell me what i can and can't do"...however, what i will not do over any means of communication is give out information that has been given to me in trust by another...with that said, this summer i will be in the Valle Vidal scouting for August bear and in 34 looking for other areas to hunt for my daughters ES elk tag in October...

LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-17 AT 01:38PM (MST)[p]I am a NR and I have been helped by some great guys on MM, Paul included. Scouting from 1000 miles away is dificult. I have made some good friends on this forum and even hunted with some. Most of these guys just want to know what to expect on their particular hunt and general locations to check out. I followed the forum for years before I ever posted anything. I now have some experience in certain units and I help others whenever possible. The mood of the forum does seem to have changed and there seems to be fewer and fewer posts in general. Its unfortunate. I see the risk in posting specifics on the forum but thats what PM's are for. We hunters need to stick together, the Tree Huggers sure do!
Paul your doing a great job, keep it up. Thanks

Smith, it is all good. I hate having to be a d!ck on here and I don't want to make enemies. It seems whenever this comes up on this forum subtle hints never work. It is not a discussion, it is unwritten forum policy. I hope you stick around and post your success. Is what Terynitup posted true?? You posted a request for help a few years ago?? Now that is to funny. You got to admit that is funny. Stick around. Great group of folks on this forum. And yes I know bugleinnm instigated most of this and he promised not to do it again ? If you ever meet up with him kick him in the nuts for both of us.

Nm Paul no problem and it is funny I did post asking for help for a friend after two months an 2 weeks and counts less hours and money spent being a NR and all. Not after one hour of drawing a tag. "Effort" was put forth before asking. Second he used option 4 as I discussed hired an outfitter. Nice to have someone control the forum but everyone is entitled to their opinion and just because it doesn't match up with yours kind of "funny" to call a guy names and a pos and jump to conclusions and threaten to kick him off, being it doesn't match yours. I will make sure I step my game up and start asking for help within hours not months, $, countless hours spent researching high and low!
"You can help yourself fallow hunters not everything is handed to you and not everyone gets a trophy. The trophy is time spent and effort put forth!!!! Also there is a thing called pm on this forum! thanks and happy hunting

I have followed MM for years but never posted because I am old school and technology is not my thing. After my 15-year-old daughter showed me this post last night I felt that I needed to comment on this one. I see both sides of this, some people believe in e-scouting some people don't. It's an opinion everyone is entitled to. I like Kuiu someone may like Sitka. It was sad to see some of NMPaul's comments to Mr. Smith (STFU which my daughter told me means shut the fu*? up) We all need to be grownups and realize that the next generation of hunters is watching our behavior we don't need to be calling to each other losers and trying to bully another member off the form because they have an opinion.
If you want to help help if you don't don't pretty simple. I have read Mr. Smith's comments a few times and I don't see where he is saying he is better than anyone on here or saying he is not willing to help anyone on here I believe what he is trying to say is put a little effort in before you ask. As a mod of this form NM I believe you could've chosen your words a little better and left out the name calling (POS really?)

Don't forget the next generation is watching your behavior and how you treat each others. We are all Hunter let's act like it!

Yaz

Pail, again, good job. Especially your last sentence above should settle this matter once and for all!

Smith. You seem to want to beat a dead horse. It seems odd that you would judge other hunters when you do the same thing. I can't remember anyone asking for your advice on what hunting should mean to them or for your help. So I have no idea why you persist in telling us how we should hunt a tag.

That's exactly why you were called out! Check your previous posts on the Forum and see how perfectly you have punctuated your grammar in the past or better yet, lack of!

My reply to the nonsense that was going on in this NM post was legitimate and warranted, unlike the surplus of negativity. I hope you keep MM reputable and practice acceptance of diverse ideas and opinions. We are all players in the same game.

Thanks

Smith, go crawl back under whatever filthy rock you slithered out of.

You are a fraud and a fool. I was right about you right out of the gate.

You need help. I guess you thought you were clever, and all that ended up is you got exposed for being a liar.

Gotta love that NMPaul. Stay the course sir. Troublemakers just stirring up crap. Thank you. We have spoke on a couple of occasions and you helped me both times .

paul.....

you sound like a freakin liberal! accepting of all views and peoples differing opinions??

thats the exact line of thinking that had me walking into my room at new york new york in vegas with 4 gay dudes packin fuge on what was suppose to be my bed!!!

screw that! you apply and ask for help im gonna run your ass down. then next year im gonna apply for the boulder in utah and ask for some places to start because utah is once in a lifetime and that's different.

so to heck with all those guys wanting help in nm. special kinds of stupid is what theys is!

Bugle, you called me out for an obvious "typo" on Pail for Paul on the previous post and for which I apologize to NM Paul! Your use of the word "SPELT" when you obviously meant "SPELLING" is interesting in itself? Are you by any chance BRIT? The accepted and correct usage for this verb in the UNITED STARES is "SPELLING"! I suggest you "BUGLEIN" Mr. Webster!!!!!!!

Busted!

I have almost no computer skills, but, from the first "Yaz" post it was pretty obvious that it was the troll Smith33. Eventually I found the same IP address on the first post in this thread by him.
Not sure why there are so many IP addresses (maybe different wifi spots).
I dont understand why people want to go onto internet forums and just cause trouble and provoke people. Most of them would never do it in person. Wish they would get a life and stop messing with the forum.

Okay that's pretty funny. Maybe the NM forum can be drama free for awhile

I think the technical internet term for Yaz would be a "Sockpuppet", created by Smith.

Kudos to Paul for sniffing him out!

I'm behaving !!! This here is text book !!! Great stuff rio

I'm all for information sharing on draw tags, nobody seems to have an issue with it on OIL tags.

One thing that does bother me is the term "honey hole" - can we agree not to use that any more?

?EVERYONE HANDS UP HELP POLICE? sorry for the delay. I was called to another forum and forgot about you jacks. As Nmpaul or NMPUTIN the Russian hacker said he is not very computer savvy and apparently don't understand what a IP address is. So as you can see from the picture we where all having dinner and posting together last night. Or is YAZ / Smith33 / Nmpaul the same guy? Nmpaul started this post from IP address 68.104.245.219 is Atlanta. Then Putin traveled to unknown IP address???? ? Then appeared again at IP address 64.124.164.242 in Bernalillo NM. Long story short for you Jacks, Putin joined the 2 of us for dinner at IP address 216.255.192.147 in Artesia NM. Then as Stomper posted Nmpaul/Putin rush off to the real New York New York and posted from IP address 50.107.1.23!!!???

The only thing I know for sure is that Stomper and I are not the same person.

Otherwise, I am still 90% sure you and Yaz are the same clown. Both of your posts are long wordy incoherent posts defending a position that is ridiculous.

A guy that claims to be on monstermuleys for years and out of the blue is offended by stfu, when on any given day the same or worse is all over the site. Then after all these years on MM the guy posts a manifesto basically repeating all the points you already made.

You already showed your lack of character by crying about other people asking for help after you did the exact same thing, but, somehow you are different and you are going to tell us what hunting needs to be for everyone.

Bottom line, this forum does not need your drama. I never understood why kooks on the internet insisted on staying where they were not wanted, but, like I mentioned before. I cant delete your comments or ban you. However, if you plan on staying on this forum watch how other people handle themselves and act accordingly.

I for one am not a fan of people asking for help on here. That being said, I do understand if they have been doing their work and are still having a hard time locating animals. But for those who have never been in the unit is unacceptable in my eyes. I personally have contributed to complaints on here about people asking for help and believe I'm part to blame for the cause of this post. It's not because I'm a "wanna be" hunter or whatever that above comment said but its because I don't like when people get handed information when they did not work for it. I really don't care what you're situation is on why you're asking for hot spots but I personally see it as low if you're using someone else's hard earned information when you haven't stepped foot in the unit. Please stop being lazy and put in the work like the rest of us blue collar hunters!

Also on a side note: The the real reason why people stop posting here is because of these pissing matches I keep seeing. I mean really guys.... does you're PM button not work or something?

Nothing wrong about feeling that way. The option then is to not respond to people asking for help.

I share the same feelings as Tine. my frustration is that I get out year around and cover ground but can't draw a tag. I finally drew last year and killed probably one of the biggest bulls I've ever killed. I personally don't post pictures and dang sure ain't going to post the unit. all it takes is a couple good animals taken out of a unit and pics are plastered all over the site then the odds of drawing a tag go to crap. oh well, it is what it is. to me this is basically an outfitter site. most locals don't post anything and won't, and outfitters post everything. of course there's good folks that are just trying to get info but go do some work first.

I enjoy coming on here , I really have a passion for hunting and like to see whats going on....I too do not post many pics , Ive never killed anything big other than a really awesome oryx and back then they wouldn't allow cameras on the range so I was too scared to try and didn't get any good field pics. I don't mind helping if the question is asked in a manner where a guy /girl is simply looking for a point in a starting direction, and have been blasted for even that...I can care less tho, many have helped me and just believe in karma....heck Mozey helped my get my 06 dialed in last year before my 2B deer hunt and now he drew a desert sheep tag....coincidence, meh , yeah, ok , but what goes around comes around....But I will say this , help if ya want or don't, simple as that...Post a pic or don't....

Exactly

If that is the way you guys feel, then why are you bothering with this site at all?

Isn't the entire point of this site about sharing pictures, stories, and hunting information?

If you disagree, why participate? It feels like some of you guys are just here to troll and harass everyone.

You know what goes around comes around! Why wouldn't you want to help a fellow hunter out if they are genuine? Is it like someone mentioned before Jealousy? Man I hope not. Is it that a few of the Residents are upset when the NR draws a tag and then asks for help from other hunters who know the units? I sure don't want to believe that. Remember the NR DIY hunter only get 6% of the tags, no matter if you want to help someone out or not the NR are still going to get the allotment of those tags. If you think about it most of the ground being hunted is National Forest own by all of US! Being a NR myself it's very hard to make several scouting trips etc as someone mentioned when you live over a thousand miles away. Thank goodness for the good people here on MM who were very inviting and helpful to me.

Thanks again to all my friends on the NM Forum
