This is my first time applying in Utah so please excuse my ignorance. I only want to accumulate points this year. From my understanding you get preference points for general hunts and bonus points for limited entry hunts. Is this correct? Can you apply for both a preference point and a bonus point? Thanks.

Yep, this is what you can get in one year:

One bonus point for your choice of Deer, Elk, or pronghorn.

and

One bonus point for your choice of Once in a Lifetime.

and

One preference point for general season deer.

I think they may do preference points for the Youth Elk hunt as well, but not sure.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-14-04 AT 11:16AM (MST)[p]OK, now I am really confused.

Steelie, you say I can get a bonus point for both limited entry and once in a lifetime?

I called a couple days ago and talked to the DWR and was told I could only have one point for either limited entry or once in a lifetime but not both.

Can someone clear the confusion?

Flatlander,
It says on page 22 of the proclamation that you may put in for:
(a) Only one of the following
(i)buck deer
(ii)bull elk
(iii)buck pronghorn

AND

(b) only one once-in-a-lifetime permit.

Looks like RUT answered your question, maybe there was some confusion when you spoke with the DWR, what you CANNOT do is draw a LE tag and a OIL tag the same year, you can put in for both, but if you draw a LE then you will be taken out of the OIL(you will recieve a OIL point though).
