I'am not sure how many points I have, but what is the maximum number of points a person can have going into this year? 4-5? Thanks, Rick

You can call 602-942-3000 and find out how many point you have. It's an animated system and easy to follow.

If you're talking about deer, I'm pretty sure points started in 2000, so you should have 4 if you applied every year.

Max points for deer (including the hunter ed point) is 6. If you have less than 5 don't waste your time on muley tags up north stick with Coues deer:)

If someone was smart and wanted to make a lot of money, they would figure a way to get the drawing statistics for resident and non resident for arizona, and break them down to who drew with what bonus points, so people could look at them and decide what hunts had good or bad odds. It would be nice to know. someone go make some big dollars now and do it, so I can read it. I would pay

One of the reasons that I was curious, was that it seemed to me that AZ was offering an extra bonus point if you either had proof of taking a hunter safety course or, you had to take one of the AZ's approved hunter safety course. Being a non resident makes it difficult or nearly impossible to coordinate a date to take the test. If someone in the KNOW would please unclogggg my brain, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks Rick

You have to take the coarse to get the bonus point. They have had 1 day abbreviated(sp) non resident classes in the past. They require proof you've completed a hunter safety coarse in your home state since 1980. I think the full coarse taken by residents is over 20 hours long.

YollaBolly, My friend and I took the 1 looonnnngggg day of the hunter safety course that they offer. You have to provide proof of your hunters safety card by fax, mail etc.. It is 12 hours 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. By taking this class is provides you a permanet (SP) prefence point. If you didn't know you can draw the best hunt in the state with 1 point if your a lucky soul. The points just put your name in the hat that many more times. I have 6 deer points and 7 elk points and still haven't drawn. Good Luck.

The bonus point course is worth every minute. I drove 12 hours to attent and I traveled the shortest distance of everyone. From what I remember, the class had very little to do with hunter safety. It was about learning Az hunting regulations and draw system. The Az F&G comissioner was there and he told us that he wanted us to learn how to draw the best tags in the state, come to Az to spend our money, shoot a trophy animal and have a great time. Some guys are going to be pissed because I'm suggesting to anyone to go and get that permanent bonus point but I'm pissed that Az went to the internet system. Now everyone is applying (wife, kids, grandma ect) Draw odds went into the toilet. I changed my mind. Don't go to the class and don't apply in Az. It's a waste of time and you will never draw. There are only a few of us lucky guys that will draw. Apply elseware! Ed F

THEIR SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK I DREW WITH ONLY 1 POINT LAST YEAR. FOR AN ARCHERY ELK TAG. I THINK THEY NEED TO GO TO THE OLD SYSTEM. GET A TAG YOU DON'T PUT IN AGAIN UNTIL THE FOURTH YEAR. BY THE WAY MY SON DREW WITH 4 POINTS FOR THE SAME HUNT WE BOTH KILLED 6X6'S. JUST MY OPINION. BOBBY

Rick, I spoke with you earlier this year re the M-11 hunt. In 2000 I flew to Phoenix for the long 1 day course. Flew in Friday, took the course on Saturday, flew back to Cali on Sunday morning. My total cost was about 325 including the Motel 6 for 2 nights. Drew my second Az bull tag in 6 years this year, and have max points for deer. It was worth the time and money for me.
