what to do with 10 points for elk . I really would like to hunt with a bow. Is there any units that i could draw with 10 points that are good

Are you a non resident? Or will you be applying as a resident? I hope you get after one this year with a bow.

With 10 points are you sure you want to put in for an archery hunt?..For example I know of a guy that burned more points than that on a Monroe Archery tag which should have been a slam dunk of a hunt and well...ya he got skunked...and he hunted hard. So..think hard about it...and if you're still wanting an archery hunt...I'd be holding out and looking at the Pahvant, Monroe, San Juan, Book Cliffs, and really nothing else. Most of the units in the state are good but with that many points it would be one of these or nothing for me..just my 2 bits.

I would look to units that will not have spike hunters on it. I drew an archery tag a few years ago and had a difficult time getting screwed up by other hunters. Most of which were hunting spikes/cows. I saw some huge bulls and had numerous close calls but in the end I killed a 6 point satelite bull. My biggest bull to date with a bow but certainly not the bull of my dreams. The archery hunt is a tough go. It is too early in the "rut", and bugling can be spotty. If you want my oppinion, you may want to take your points and look into a muzzleloader tag or even hold out another year or 2 and go for a rifle tag. That is really hard for me to say as a hard core Bowhunter. But, this elk herd is amazing and the odds of hunting them more than 1 time is not that great. My oppinion is probably to wait and kill the biggest bull you can with a gun during the better season dates and go kill 300 class bulls in Idaho/Colorado while you wait. Good luck to you in what ever you decide. That Bowhunt while difficult was probably one of the funnest hunts I have ever been on. Those huge bulls are awesome to chase!

Good luck, Chad

One good thing you could do is "donate" half of your points to "Bobcatbess" as he needs all of the points that he can get in order to draw a GOOD TAG. LOL And he would be forever indebted to you. He might even take care of you in need of help.

Well said Chad!
My Bro-in-law drew a Wasatch Archery tag last year and I spent a lot of time hunting with him. Like Chad, we had many close calls but he ended up killing a satelite bull as well. Where you have waited this long, whats a couple more years? Good luck on whatever you decide.
