I'm hunting New Mexico Unit 44/45 landowner tag.Any info?

I got a couple of tags from a real nice guy. You guys got any info on the area. I'm going Oct. 20-24 for rifle elk. Never hunted in New Mexico for anything. It is a do it yourself hunt. I checked all his references and they all told me that they wouldn't hunt anywhere else. What do I expect for weather?

cold and windy, maybe an inch or 2 of snow..... it is a very large unit so depends on which part you hunt. lots of wilderness areas, you should see plenty of animals..... did i mention windy

I have a buddy who rifle hunted there 3 years in a row, ending about 5 years ago, if you PM me I will give you his email address, also when you pm me please let me know what you paid for the tags, I am curious.

FYI you should enter the draw for sure, if you draw sell the tags, - and save at least $1000 each I am guessing.

We did enter the draw last year and this year. Just bought the tags so we can for sure hunt New Mexico. The guy we bought them from said he'd help us resell them if we drew the limited entry tag.

r u plannin to hunt in Pecos wilderness?? if u have horse or anything..try start from small town Penasco goin to top..there are place to see some elk..

friends of my shot nice 2 bulls...5x5 and 6x6..not wide but nice bulls for that area. on top of mesa..not too far from camp and had his dad pick them up at Cowles in Pecos after drop off from penasco..

I think it is private land since we bought landowner tags. It is adjacent to public land though.
