question #1- is there decent odds of getting drawn for montana. a friend of mine took a very good muley and his partner took a super whitetail this past season up there. i'm interested.

question #2- does anyone know of any good muley hunting in new mexico. i've hunted the cimarron canyon area and northeast part of the state the last couple of years with nothing but big "0"s. any suggestions?

question #3- what about colorado? in advice on where to hunt in this state?

please give any adive you may know. thanks

Re:#2-Look at the odds in 2B. Our populations are down butI still here the stories of the big ones that got away.

If you use an outfitter in MT, or land owner tag is guarenteed.$775 for outfitter tag.

Some of the other members are better informed than me about Colorado. But it is definitely worth starting in Colorado. Many of the best areas take years to get enough points to draw, so start as soon as you can. There are some areas that you can draw as a second choice, but the hunting is tougher. I hope some of the Coloradans will also reply. I'm sure you won't get specific areas, but they can provide general advice.

Good hunting.

Sent you PM of three outfitters in NE and North Central New Mexico that have great ranches and lands under control.

You should be able to draw Montana for deer at least every third year. If you really want a better chance go for the ELK/DEER combo. I have friends that draw that every year. With the block program good hunting is a lot easier to find but you must put some effort in early to confirm your hunting dates with the land owners - its worth it!!:7

The deer-only combination licenses are harder and harder to draw each year, no matter which type you pick; about 5:1 odds. It is much better to go for the elk/deer combo and you can almost count on getting one every 2-3 years.

?#3 Colorado has a good number of deer and if thats all you plan to hunt you should great chances. Every year there are tons of buck and doe tags that go into the left over draw. Fine a good place with lots of BLM, State, and Forest land(all whick is public)and check out how many tags there are. Check out the Colorado Division Of Wildlife and order the Colorado outdoors. It only $10.00 and they include a points guide, telling you how many licenes and how many aplided last year. It a great way to start. If you need more info shoot me a e-mail. [email protected]

Subscribing to Colorado Outdoors is a great idea. Just renewed mine and gave 2 gift subscriptions. However, you can find all the preference point data at the Colorado DOW website.
