Revised Ut '07 Tag #

Kind of curious as to how they list a quota for non-resident management bulls when this wasn't an option during the application period. Any ideas to how the 7 permits will be distributed?

PRO,

You were right, I was wrong - about the NR permit numbers. Even with the convention tags, there were increases in NR permits (I hope they didn't just forget to subtract them :) . In fact, they are proposing to give 8.2% of elk tags to NR. Not near as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I forgive you(J/K). I hope you draw and have a great hunt. I was in a panic on the first numbers, because the archery tags were way low. Now the are right at 24.8%, close enough to 25% for me. I made several phone calls as soon as I did a little math, now I need to call some folks back and tell them thanks.

It still shows 7 Management tags for the Non res but the Proclamation said they weren't going to give any out.

I'm sure there are some non-resident "insiders" (if you know what I mean) that applied for these hunts that will be issued the permits.

They should just move all the NR management tags back to the resident pool for the current draw, or better yet, auction them off to the highest bidder. Rewarding any NR that put in for a tag that the Proclamation stated would not be availabe is not "fair". I will propose this at the RAC!

LAST EDITED ON Mar-09-07 AT 04:30PM (MST)[p] I Knew It!!!! I should have applied for the Pahvant Muzz tag.
They said there was no NR muzz tag for the Pahvant in 2007 in the regs, but Hunting Fools free issue said there was. I called the DOW and couldn't get an answer. Almost seems like they have this planned and there is something fishy going on. How does Hunting fool know this and no one else can find out? Who ever had the inside scoop on the management tags will have great odds.
It makes me wonder how much insider info goes on in the F&G and i will tell you why. When I read about the "new tag" added for Pahvant muzz in hunting fools free issue i was pumped up for it. When I read the regs, and called the F&G personally about it they said if there is no tag shown there is none available. But when i went to do the online app, the Pavant code was there to choose even though there was not supposed to be a tag for it this year. Seems odd to me.

Geez, C'mon guys, the men that are respnsible for putting these tags in the proper order ARE GOOD MEN!!! They don't lay awake at night thinking " how can I screw this guy over" They could care less as long as they get the desired amount of harvested animals. Carrying capacity on range doesn't care if an elk was taken with a rifle, bow, muzz or Bowie knife, any more than these guys care if the elk had 400 inches of bone on it's head or not.

They knew adjustments were going to be made when I called, which was pretty damn quick after getting a look at the recommended splits.

Give these men a break every now and then, they've got enough
people looking over their shoulders and none of them have a degree in BIOLOGY.

Gordy

Wiley, not harping on the guys who did the adjustment. I just want to know how guys like Carter gets the skinny on where the tags will be added so far in advance that he can put it in a magazine, but yet no one else seems to know.

I agree with Gordy, these are good people with a difficult position. It says alot about their character when they right wrongs/mistakes very quickly. A couple of phone calls from a few concerned archers was enough to get a quick response. I still believe they need to issue enough tags to manage for the age objectives though.

They better let us reapply for the "mis"management nr bull tags or something. I would have been all over that if they had said that there was going to tags available. What a crock!!

Schmalts,
Go to the Utah web site and print out a change hunt code form. You still have time to change your hunt choices prior to the draw, although you have to have the form notorized. They did the same to me on another hunt.

You can also turn your tag back in if you draw but dont like the unit or qaulity on the unit. You will need to turn your permit back in before your hunt opens. The only draw back is you will not get a refund on the money they charged you to draw the permit.Just another option if you dont want your permit or for some reason cant make the hunt. You will get your bonus points back and also be awarded 1 for the year you turned your tag back.

I just got an email back from Utah DWR. the NR mangament bull tags listed on the website are a misprint and will be corrected before the rac meetings. There are no NR management hunts.
