Am planning on going to Wyoming this fall to hunt with "Greys River Trophies". Can anyone provide me with some insight?

Have you already booked with Gary? You won't find out till late this summer if you get drawn for the deer tag.

Thanks for that info. No, we have not booked yet. Was planning on doing so this week. I was mistakedly thinking that the drawing was in March and we would know the results within 2 weeks. I read the booklet again and seen the drawing is July 3 and we will be notified if successful on July 10.

Should we wait the results of the draw before we book with the guide. The guide deposit is 100% refundable?

it doesn't hurt to start talking to the guide-its always good to start planning early. they will be well aware that all plans are tentative on you drawing a tag-i'm sure they run into this situation alot.

I would definitely get hooked up with an outfitter ASAP. Most of the best will probably be full already. On deposits, I don't know of an outfitter in Wyoming that keeps any of your deposit if you don't get the license. But it is a legal requirement that the outfitter inform you of his deposit/refund policy, so be sure to check.

Good luck.

I hunted with Gary in 2001. He runs a good camp. He and his partner Ken know the country very well. The weather and the pressure can make or break the hunt. We timed it just right and were able to kill two good bucks. I killed a 226 non-typical and my partner killed a 170 buck on the last day. We saw a lot of 150 class deer and those two bucks were the best we saw. Take good optics and be in shape the country is brutal.

Sam,
I have seen your buck you took with Gary, great buck! I hunted with your buddy Scott last year with Gary. He came in camp with a couple other buddies on my 4th day of my hunt. I heard they went home empty also, it was a tough year, way too hot. If Scott has e-mail tell him to get a hold of me at
[email protected]
Thanks,
