drew general elk license.. I have done some research and was thinking of trying unit 89...........anyone have any experience with this unit or can recommend another.......Thanks. Have done some cow hunts in other draw units but no bull tag till now. Won't have horses either. Willing to pack in and out to hunt.

No horses in the Grey's River for Elk, you better be in excellent shape and be prepared for a work out in those steep mountains there.

Good luck,

Brian

Kilowatt is right, best be in shape, but there are tougher areas in the Greys and Hoback country than 89. It won't be easy, but if you are physically tough and conditioned and combine that with a deep passion you will pull it off without horses, just like your cow hunts. Don't know what you are looking for in a bull or how much time you have but you might want to consider hard the first 250 class or better mature 5 or 6 point you see in that unit. Bone it all on the spot as you are probably already doing and enjoy the work of hard packing in beautiful country. You will be able to look at your mount on the wall, big or small, and be darn proud you did it all on your own, with no help from anyone or anything. No better way to appreciate every aspect of the hunt to its fullest and no one else's bull will have anything over yours, regardless of size, in my opinion. Good luck and hunt hard.
