Rookie WY application question

Looking for some help here. Last year I finally drew a Wyoming tag after 3 years. This year I am applying for the same region, but am also thinking about putting in for an easier (draw) region for a second choice. The only problem is that I am sending in as a group with another guy that will not be applying for a second choice.

I don't want my application tossed out because of this discrepancy. Will this affect my application? If not, I am looking at F for a back-up and if drawn I will do my scouting this summer. Any thoughts on F for a guy hoofing it on public land.

Thanks for any help.

You can not apply as a group if you put different hunt choices, no matter if it is 1st, 2nd, 3rd. All choices have to be the same. Both must apply for each choice.

F has some great public land hunting, BUT most of it is Wilderness which means you need a guide. (I won't go into that BS topic) I have been on many Self-Done pack trips into the Thorofare, upper Yellstone areas and I have seen some dandies, but the area is overrun with Outfitters and they will turn you in if you are a NonRes without a guide. I also belive that F tags are sold out by 1st choice, except for maybe a handful of tags.

Good Luck

LAST EDITED ON Feb-22-04 AT 11:42AM (MST)[p]Thanks for the response 2-pt. I would have hated to lose a shot at a tag for having inconsistant apps. The region I went to last year, as well as applying for this year, has a pile of wilderness I can't touch, but there are still opportunities. I noticed that F only had 18 left overs in '03, but figured I could only draw if I applied (~6% chance for second choise).

I never understood why I could recreate anywhere in these wilderness area unless I had a tag in my pocket. Oh well, I am still hapy as hell to have the opportunity to hunt other parts of the state.

Good luck with your draws and thanks again for setting me straight.
