Hopefully to draw 16-c during the bow hunt.Never hunted this area before, where do I start ?

Not to sound stupid, but you first must draw the tag. The odds will not be good for 16c if your a non-resident. Somewere around 3% to 8% chance. Meaning you might have a better chance of an airplane crashing thru your house.
But if you were to get lucky, I hear its easy access and allot of public. I am trying to draw there too! If I get a tag I will go their a couple times this summer and scout.

I hunted it a cpl years ago. Take a quad if you have one. Use it to drive down the road from camp to where you will take off and hunt. The roads are rougher than a cob and waterbarred VERY well.
Had a nice hunt. Nobody stepped on each others area, no quads off road, and met some real nice people.

16C is an outstanding unit. 16A & D get all the attention but I feel C is just as good! 16C has great potential for true 320" bulls, not the 320 bull that is in EVERY hunting store, true 320. 16C also has potential for bulls over 350", like I said, true 350". BUT, if drawn, do some research, they are not behind every tree!

I won't give you locations as they were given to me in confidence.
That said, calls were of very little use. I had 6-10 bugling bulls every morning to hunt. They know each other by name and they know who you are too. Funny thing is, they don't care. When the herd would move off in the morning, calls did nothing but let them know where you were. If you got ahead of them and cow called just to turn them that little bit, they would go around you and start bugling again.
By some Baers feet so you can walk quietly when within 100 yards or so. Get ahead of them and don't make a sound. That's how they got killed where I was.
