new world record sheds found near ely

Ok, I heard last night that a pair of sheds were found near Ely
that would be a new world record. 460 gross.
Anyone else hear this?
Also heard the guy that found them passed up 20 grand from someone who wanted them.
 
I have seen some pictures of the sheds I think you are talking about. They were found in Ely because in the pictures, the guy is in his back yard and the mountains in the back round. Maybe he'll take the sheds to the Cabelas show in Utah this June wouldn't that be cool to see a pair of 300+ deer sheds a 460" gross elk sheds at the same show. I have heard that they net 440+, but that isn't offical.
 
I have pictures of Sheds that we just picked up 2 weeks ago. Just not sure how to post em on here. 426 gross. 6 by 6. and yes they were found in utah

Thanks Jake.. Just to clarify these are not the sheds from Ely. These are utah sheds we found 2 weeks ago..

Not Naples.. They dropped one year ago. We found em 2 weeks ago. We are trying find this years but no luck yet..
 
but I was close right.....that ridge in the background looks really familar. Well good luck finding this years set.

Ya not so close cause I really dont even know of Naples. Is it a town or mountain range?
 
Looks like Doug's new world record muzz bull from hobble creek. That bull is dead. Congrats on finding the sheds off him.

The big set of sheds from NV I heard the guy bought them from an Elk ranch in Idaho.
 
Naples is right next to Vernal, that ridge in the back of your pic looks like the ridge just south west of vernal, guess not though sorry to bug ya about it.

Said they found them by Ely. That would be Nev.
But i'm sure we would all like to see the 460 bull you have on vid from Southern ut.
 
If you read the others post they said they found them in Utah. they also said it's around 426 not 460.
 
The original post was about a set of sheds found near Ely. Then as usual the post takes off in another direction i.e. ut elk sheds and such. Anyway who know's what is what.

Hey Guys i Live in Ely and i Personally know the guys son and its true i haven't seen them yet but his son says they are something that is just out of this world.

That is a monster set that was found in utah!!!

So lets set this straight. There is a set that was found in nevada that is, from what I'm told, 458 gross and 435 net officially. I have pics and it appears to be a 9X9 but I choose not to post them because I don't have permision from the person who found them. This set is probably the reason that the nevada gov. tag just went for $80,000.

And no this would not be a new world record set of sheds
 
This thread is amazing, starts off as a NV bull then goes from there straight to UT. Let's see that NEVADA bull. I hope somebody has a picture!
 
Like I said if this Bull was in Utah tell the unit. I'm thinking we have video of this bull in the velvet.
 
The pics of the sheds on this post are a Ut bull, for sure.

I am the owner of the sheds in Ely. I have not had a moment of peace since I showed a few "friends" the horns. With all of the phone calls, some late at night, strangers showing up at the house univited to look at them, I finally had to ship them off to my dad out of state. I now realize, that I should had never let my "friends" take photos of them. All I asked was that they keep them for themselves and not e-mail them or put them on the internet. I see they are now here on this site, that my friend alerted me to. So lets clear up some things, they gross 462 2/8 and net 444 6/8. I have never said where they came from or how I came about them. People have drawn many conclusions for themselves without me saying a word. A lot of people claim to have seen the bull and have video of it, what a treat that truly must have been. I am a very private person and hate to have to write things such as this but all of the calls, visitors and e-mailing of photos needs to stop. Unfortunately, the horns will not be back in Nevada for quite some time, until I can enjoy them again in peace.
 
Good luck buddy, you're going to need it. These horn addicts are worse than meth heads.

ok the Nevada sheds are brown. Does any of you guys know anything about the white sheds in top pictures in this post?
 
i got two words for you my man, mount, and, sell. you want all the attention you brought onto yourself off, then get rid of them. me personally, i'd put them on a mount and put them in a cabella's store. that way everyone can enjoy them, and i could tell lots of lies about where i got them from.

funny thing,elyelk,people assume cause youre from Ely ,you found them in Ely.I have a buddy who is a guide who has seen that bull with his horns still attached.P M me and I will tell you who my buddy is
 
I think there is a good chance that the brown sheds in the pic were sold on e-bay at least twice in the past few months......the first time they were listed was from a guy in washington and them someone bought them from Idaho and resold them......I know because I bid on them both times....I'm 98% sure this is the same set>
 
No wonder why he is not saying a lot about them. He doesn't want people to know what he paid for them. LOL
 
I don't have a link, I've tried all morning to find a way to recall the auctions I've bid on that are older than 60 days....I believe that it was in Jan or maybe even Dec.....but I wouldn't forget that split first on the left side. The first time it was sold it went for 650ish and the second time it was like 2500 or something....I even remember what the pictures looked like....I even remember that the first time it was listed it didn't have a score listed so i e-mailed the guy and asked and then added up the score and it was within inches of what the above post says..I'll see if a buddy of mine still has it in the items he was watching. It's it though..I'm pretty sure.
 
I bought the horns on ebay and have already resold them to a guy in the Midwest. I have never claimed nor will ever claim to have found them. I have no idea where they came from, but were purchased as an investment. I do not know why people here assumed that I found them. I purcahse many horns and resell them for profit. I have bought many 400+ sets and resold them. This is just another set. I cannot believe how worked up people have become over these horns. I do not have any more time to waste on this. Thanks to all of those who were polite, and shame on those who passed e-mails around and stirred the pot up that there is a monster 460 bull in Nevada. Check the facts before you assume too much.
 
First off, you never mentioned that you didn't find them. Second off, for being such a "private guy" you sure sound like you are in the business of getting your "merchandise" out to the public. You need to relax and just let these antler freaks get their dose of big bones without getting offended by it. What did you pay for them?...if you have time to answer....
 
Does anybody have the link to ebay if it was actually on ebay? I've got more photos from a friend in ely that we can compare with the e-bay sheds. I just want to know if he really did buy them or if he is just feedin us with BS.
 
I can't find any photos even though I've tried, but I've showed two other guys that I know were also watching these auctions and we're all 100% sure this is the same set......without a doubt
 
I agree with peakfreak, too many inconsistencies. First post he tells us he shipped them to his dad, then the next he sold them to someone back east. I don't think he realized what a crap storm a set of sheds like that would cause, and now he's trying to backpedal. If he did find them, he should have never showed a single person with sheds that big. I also know for a FACT that when he first started showing these sheds around Ely he claimed to have picked them up, but now that story has changed as well. It would truly be interesting to see if they were in fact purchased off ebay.
 
As for the Utah sheds.. It is not The muzzleloader bull of Degelbecks.. And just to clarify the inches on it after many times of rescoring it comes out to be 408 Gross not 426. Its not Naples and it is not Degelbecks bull. And sorry for adding confusion here by having both UTah and Nevada sheds I just got all excited to show em off and put em on here. And as for the pix of the sheds from Nevada I dont see 460 inches..

I want to thank you for inviting me out to your home to admire these shed antlers. Truly impressive !! To all of you reading this; yes the sheds have left the building. elyelk, I know and respect how private you are, I just hope that in the future you can have him mounted and displayed for all. On a hand shake, I have never shared my photo's. I hope that this bull is able to breed with alot of cows over the next few years, to continue a gen pull that is important to this herd. This type of quality allows the taking of MANY large bulls to come. I also want to thank you for the countless hours that you guys spend in the field and the feed back that you give me. Mr. C is still out there, we both have our theories, lets hook up.

30Buck.. If you want to share the unit you think these came from I will tell you if you have this bull on film or not. Im not trying to be mr. knowitall but unless I really think stupid thoughts I would have to say that there really is a very slim chance that you have filmed this bull.. Let me know what unit.
 
I sent you the an email so the unit wouldn't be posted on the site. If it's the same unit I'm sure it's the bull.
 
Who the ....cares where they came from or how anyone got them , they are a nice set of sheds and all you guys are doing is showing your jealous side. You sound like the types that would move over to someones honey hole because you have no confidence in your own abilities to find your own. Why cant you just admire someones good luck in finding such a prize and try to find your own with the knowledge you have without trying to horn in on someone elses.
