Got my Colorado proclamation in the mail last week. A good friend of mine is suggesting I put in for Unit 62 muzzleloader. Will guarantee me a nice buck. I know it borders Unit 61 which is a trophy area. Any thoughts from you who know this area. I have enough points to draw a tag, based on the odds from last year.

Thanks, Mark

The highest scoring buck that I know of from Colorado in 2003 came out of 61. There isn't much movement from unit to unit.
If he is guaranteeing it. What the hell!!! Go for it.

Thanks for the reply. My friend, I have known for about 3 years. He hunts in unit 62 for elk each year. He has shown me a video he took last year, while hunting cow elk. There are several bucks in the 26" to 28" range. The big factor is that he knows the area. I am encouraged.

Thanks for your reply.

I've seen some good bucks during the first two weeks of September in unit 62, but come muzz season they dissapear real fast. It's tough getting away from roads and other hunters in 62 but it can be done in a few areas. Check out the Barkley Cabin Gulch, Little Dominguez and Escalante Canyon areas if you need a spot to start. Most of the big deer that time of year will be in the aspen, pinion, oak transition zones. Tough hunting but good luck ! :)

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate you sharing with me. I will pull out my map tonight and start locating those spots.

Thanks again, Mark
